By Jimmy LaRoue
Pateadores won in dramatic fashion Saturday, picking up a stoppage time goal from Roberto Escudero to defeat Chivas USA 4-3 in Under-17/18 U.S. Soccer Development Academy play.
Chivas USA had taken a 3-2 lead on the last of three goals from Jose Dheming in the 61st minute, but Pateadores’ Samuel Nicanor leveled the match in the 87th minute. Five minutes later, Escudero ninth goal of the season had rescued all three points for Pateadores. TJ Casner picked up his 13th goal of the season in the 15th minute to give Pateadores an initial 1-0 lead.
The result was flipped for the two teams in U-15/16 play, as Chivas USA picked up a 3-0 win behind goals from Adam Arana in the 25th minute, Ever Delatorre in the 65th minute and Tyler Allen in the 76th minute.
Chicago Fire’s two academy teams picked up wins against Sockers FC, with the U-17/18s winning 1-0 and the U-15/16s taking a 2-1 decision.
