Development Academy players, coaches receive end-of-year honors

CHICAGO (Via U.S Soccer) – With the 2014-15 season coming to a close this past Saturday, the U.S. Soccer Development Academy has named its conference award winners for Player of the Year and Coach of the Year. Additional accolades include a Starting XI for each conference at each age group, as well as team awards and best administrator awards.

Alexander Rose (Capital Area RailHawks Academy-CASL) was named Player of the Year in the East Conference for the Under-15/16s. Devin Vega (FC Dallas) won the award in the Central and Simon Lekressner (Crossfire Premier) in the West. For Coach of the Year, Bryan Scales (New England Revolution) was the winner in the East Conference. Chris Martinez (Real Colorado) won in the Central and Andrew Gregor (Portland Timbers) took the U-15/16 honors in the West.

For the Under-17/18s, the Players of the Year were Eryk Williamson (D.C. United) in the East, Christian Lucatero (Houston Dynamo) in the Central and Jose Hernandez (Real Salt Lake AZ) in the West. John Ramos (Kendall SC) was the Coach of the Year in the East, with Tim Carter (Shattuck-St. Mary’s) and Martin Vasquez (Real Salt Lake AZ) winning the award in the Central and West, respectively.

For the overall awards, the Philadelphia Union was named the Most Comprehensive Club in the East Conference. FC Dallas earned the same distinction in the Central and the award went to the LA Galaxy in the West.

In the Under-13/14 age group, the Development Academy selects a Coach of the Year award and team awards. Jeff Zaun (New York Red Bulls) took home Coach of the Year honors in the East Conference, with James Field (Crew SC Academy) and Andrew Ziemer (Ballistic United Soccer Club) garnering the honors in the Central and West Conferences, respectively.
