Disney Soccer Showcase: Local boys teams fare well

Bethesda Lions won the Boys U-15 Showcase Red Disney Soccer Showcase title, going 1-0-2 in bracket play before defeating Brandon FC E 97 Elite of Florida 3-0 in the final.

BFC Barca 97 Elite of Virginia also reached the final of the Boys U-15 Premier Red group before falling 3-2 to OCYS 97/98 Purple of Florida. BFC Barca had gone 2-1-0 in Bracket A play, defeating Charlotte United FC 97 Gold 4-0 and Dallas Tigres Academy 98 Gold 6-0 before falling 6-1 to Atlanta Fire United 98 Elite in its third game of bracket play, but still was able to reach the final.

In the U-16 Showcase Black group, ASA Milan Black Hawks of Maryland defeated Lower Merion SC Lightning in the consolation match after going 2-1-0 in group play, defeating FC Florida 96 4-2 and United FC of Wisconsin 6-3 before falling to FC Dallas Youth 97 Blue 3-0.

Montgomery SC Magic of Maryland defeated NC Alliance 2-0 to win the consolation match in the Boys U-16 Premier Red group. Herndon Youth Soccer Boca Juniors finished 0-1-2 in Bracket A of the group, while Montgomery SC Magic finished 2-1-0 in Bracket B.

In the Boys U-16 Premier Black group, Annandale BGC Spartans FC went 2-1-0 in Bracket A to reach the final, defeating North Atlanta SA 15 Elite 1-0 to win the championship.

SAC Columbia United Premier of Maryland, meanwhile fell in the championship game of the Boys U-16 Championship Black group to West Pines United FC Black 3-2 after going undefeated in group play at 3-0-0, beating Texans SC 97 Houston 5-0, Lee County Strikers 96 of Florida 1-0 and TSF Academy Blue 2-0.

Reston FC 94 reached the final of the Disney Soccer Showcase before falling 3-0 to Cup Crew Juniors Gold of Ohio in the championship game of the Men’s U-18 Showcase Red group.

Reston reached the championship game with three wins–1-0 over Northport Cow Harbor United Sound of New York, 3-1 over Raiders FC Premier of Illinois and 1-0 over Belleview United 94/95 of Florida.

Bethesda SC reached the consolation game in the same group, but fell 3-0 to Raiders FC Premier.

Annandale BGC Hawks came away with the Boys U-17 Premier White title, while FC Frederick 95 won the Boys U-17 Championship Gray title at Disney.

In U-18 Academy Division play, Baltimore Bays Chelsea U-18s finished 1-1-1, falling to Weston FC 3-0, defeating De Anza Force 3-1 and tying IMG Academy 2-2. Bays’ U-16s went 2-1-0 in U-16 Academy Division action, beating Chargers SC 5-0, falling 3-2 to Concorde Fire and defeating De Anza Force 2-1. Bays’ 1997 Pre-Academy team went 2-0-1 at Disney, while McLean 97 Pre-Academy went 0-2-1 and DC United Academy 97 went 2-1-0. Bays’s Pre-Academy team defeated Solar Chelsea 2-0 in the Pre-Academy Final A, while DC United Academy 97 beat Texans Houston 97 3-1 in a consolation match.

In 1998 Pre-Academy action, Bays went 3-0-0 in Bracket A play, while DC United Academy 98 went 0-3-0. Bays lost in the Final A match 2-0 to Dallas Texans SC 98.

Results from all of the Under-18 and U-17 play are below, with further updates to come for the U-15, U-16 and Academy groups at Disney.

In other Disney Soccer Showcase action from boys’ weekend involving local teams:

Men’s U-18 Showcase Black: FC Frederick 94 of Maryland finished 1-2-0, defeating Albion Hurricanes FC 95 3-1, but falling 3-0 to Concorde Fire Elite of Georgia and 2-0 to Galaxy SC 94/95 Blue of Illinois.

Men’s U-18 Showcase Gray: Annandale BGC United Force also finished 1-2-0, falling to FC Dallas Youth 95 Premier 3-1 and 2-1 to Carolina Elite Soccer Academy 94 Premier before finishing with a 3-0 win over Montgomery United 94/95 Black Premier.

Men’s U-18 Premier Red: Pachuca Dragons Green of Maryland finished 0-2-1 over the weekend, opening with a 1-1 tie against Dallas Texans 95 Red before falling 2-0 to Ottawa South United Force Academy 95 and 3-1 to WAZA FC West 95 Black of Michigan.

Men’s U-18 Premier Black: Pipeline SC Black 94/95 of Maryland fell in a consolation game 1-0 to FC Delco Cannibals of Pennsylvania. Pipeline went 1-1-1 in Bracket B play, tying St. Croix SC Juventus of Minnesota 1-1 and defeating West Florida Premier W 94 Elite of Florida 2-1 before falling to FC Premier 95 of Texas 5-3.

Men’s U-18 Premier Gray: Annandale BGC Knights finished 1-1-1 in Bracket A while Calverton SC Revolution went 1-2-0 in Bracket B. Annandale fell 3-1 in a consolation match to Carmel United SC Elite 95 of Indiana. Annandale lost its opener to Cleveland United SC 2-1 and defeated Strictly Soccer Futbol Select 3-0 and played Lake Grove SC Arsenal of New York to a scoreless tie. Calverton lost its first two games before defeating Jersey United Spartans 94/95 ASL 3-0.

Men’s U-18 Championship Red: Bethesda SC Green went 0-3-0 at Disney, but improved after an opening 8-0 loss to Greater Boca United 94/95 Gold, losing 4-2 to eventual champions SWISA FCE of Indiana and 2-1 to Tennessee SC 2013.

Men’s U-18 Championship White: Freestate Red Devils fell 2-0 in the final to Gulf Coast United of Mississippi after reaching the final with two wins and a draw in Bracket B play. Freestate tied GSA 95 Phoenix Red of Georgia 2-2 before picking up a 1-0 win over Kendall SC 94 White of Florida, and a 4-0 win over NC Alliance 94.

Boys U-17 Showcase Red: OBGC Soccer Rangers of Maryland fell 1-0 to FC Dallas Youth 96 Premier in the final after going 2-0-1 in USYS National League Red play. OBGC defeated Carolina Elite 5-1, tied GSA 96 Phoenix Red 2-2 and defeated Lehigh Valley United 95 4-2 to reach the final.

Boys U-17 Showcase Black: Loudoun SC 95 Red went 1-0-2 in Bracket A play and defeated West Pines Strikers Black 95/96 in the consolation game, while Bethesda SC Revolution went winless in three matches in USYS National League Blue play. Loudoun’s win in bracket play came in a 2-0 defeat of Classics Eagles Red, while it tied 0-0 win WAZA FC East 96 Black and 2-2 against Beachside of Connecticut.

Boys U-17 Premier Black: Pachuca FC Dragons of Maryland fell 3-0 in a consolation match to Penn Fusion SA after playing two 1-1 draws with Kansas Rush Wolves Academy and Manhattan SC Paris Saint-Germain 95 and defeating Cup Crew Juniors Black 95 1-0 in its opener.

Boys U-17 Premier Gray: Baltimore Bays Blues won the consolation game, defeating Greater Boca United 95/96 Gold 1-0 after going 2-0-1 in Bracket A play, tying Westside United FC 96 Green and defeating Ohio Elite Academy 3-1 and Mass Premier Soccer Knights 2-1. Churchland SL Junkyard Dawgs Elite, playing in Bracket B, fell in all three of its Disney matches.

Boys U-17 Premier White: Annandale BGC Hawks came away with the Disney Soccer Showcase title in the Boys U-17 Premier White group, defeating YMS Premier 95 Pressure of Pennsylvania 3-1 in the final after going 2-0-1 in Bracket B play, beating Lexington FC White of Kentucky 2-1, tying Dallas Texans 96 Red 1-1 and defeating SAA Real Madrid of Florida 1-0.

Boys U-17 Championship Gray: FC Frederick 95 won the Disney Soccer Showcase championship in this group, beating Lousiana Fire Juniors 2-1 in the final after going undefeated, untied and unscored upon in Bracket A matchups with Pride SC Predators 96 of Colorado, Cape Fear SA 95 Breakers White of North Carolina and Texans SC 96 Houston.

Boys U-17 Championship White: SA of Columbia United Premier went 2-0-1 in Bracket A action, defeating Colorado Storm COPA WCDA 2-1, tying Cajun SC Fury 96 of Louisiana 1-1 and defeating Albion Hurricanes FC 96 of Texas 4-2 to reach the final, where it fell 4-2 to Atlanta Fire United 96 Elite.

Boys U-17 Championship Blue: Southwestern Youth Excel Red went through Bracket A play 3-0-0 but fell 4-2 in the final to Bayport Intense Lightning of New York. Southwestern Youth Excel Red opened with a 3-1 win over Tennessee SC 14 Premier, and then followed up with a 4-3 win over SSA Chelsea West 96 Elite and a 3-2 win over Chargers SC Tampa Elite.
