DPL announces qualification process for inaugural SUMMIT competition

LOS ANGELES, CA – The Development Player League (DPL) has announced the qualification process for the inaugural edition of the SUMMIT.
In March 2023, the SUMMIT brings together the DPL’s top teams from across the country to battle it out for a championship. Hosted in Tampa, Fla., teams that have earned the opportunity will meet to create meaningful games that can be used to highlight the individual player.
The SUMMIT will also provide an opportunity for DPL’s youngest teams to experience the league’s high level of play, with the SUMMIT being played alongside the National Event for all teams in the U13 and U14 age groups. In the U13 age group, the top bracket of the event will be considered the SUMMIT Bracket.
The SUMMIT Automatic Qualifiers for March, 2023 will be as follows:
Automatic Qualifiers for SUMMIT 2022/23 SEASON is based on the CONFERENCE STANDINGS from 2021/2022 and DPL NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP Performances and allocated as follows:
- SOUTHWEST 1st Place
- SOUTHWEST 2nd Place
- SOUTHEAST 1st Place
- SOUTHEAST 2nd Place
- NORTHEAST 1st Place
- NEW ENGLAND 1st Place
- NEW ENGLAND 2nd Place
- FLORIDA 1st Place
- FLORIDA 2nd Place
- FRONTIER 1st Place
- MOUNTAIN WEST 1st Place
- MOUNTAIN WEST 2nd Place
- NATIONAL CHAMPION
- NATIONAL FINALIST
- NATIONAL SEMI-FINALIST 1
- NATIONAL SEMI-FINALIST 2
Automatic Qualifiers for SUMMIT 2023/24 SEASON will follow this structure:
- NORTHWEST 1st Place
- NORCAL 1st Place
- NORCAL 2nd Place
- SOUTHWEST 1st Place
- SOUTHWEST 2nd Place
- MOUNTAIN WEST 1st Place
- MOUNTAIN WEST 2nd Place
- FRONTIER 1st Place
- NORTHEAST 1st Place
- NORTHEAST 2nd Place
- SOUTHEAST 1st Place
- SOUTHEAST 2nd Place
- FLORIDA 1st Place
- FLORIDA 2nd Place
- NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP 1
- NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP 2
Additional Information:
Qualified teams will be automatically registered in the GotSport system and standard entry fee assigned.
Open slots will be determined by an open application process. Any team registered in the DPL for the 2022/2023 Season, new or returning, can apply to be considered for an open place at the SUMMIT.
Roster Retention Rule: Teams must carry 12 returning players from last season’s roster. This is designed to maintain the integrity of the qualification process. Appeals regarding rosters will be heard by the League Commissioner.
