Duke men’s soccer announces 2019 recruiting class
DURHAM, N.C. (Via Duke University) — Duke University men’s soccer head coach John Kerr and his coaching staff have announced the recruiting class for the upcoming 2019 season. The group of four future Blue Devils bring a wealth of talent and experience to Durham.
Included in the class are three incoming freshmen and one graduate student transfer from ACC foe Virginia. All three of the freshmen hail from US Soccer Development Academy teams from three different states.

Cameron Duke
- Midfield – Overland Park, Kansas – Sporting Kansas City Academy

- Regional: No. 1 – Heartland
- Before Duke: A member of Sporting Kansas City Academy program … Also has regular experience with the U.S. Soccer Youth National Teams … Helped lead Sporting KC to USSDA playoff appearances in every year … Earned his first call-up with the U14 squad in 2013 … Helped guide Sporting KC to the 2015 national title … Selected to the US Soccer Development Academy Best XI in 2017 … Named the Central Conference Player of the Year as well … Was a defender last season for the U16-17 squad last season, scoring six goals … Currently playing for the U18-19 team.
- Personal: Son of Christina Leak and Chris Duke … Has one older brother, Christian, and one sister, Cara … Father played for the Kansas City Comets of the Major Indoor Soccer … Christian currently plays for Orange County SC in the USL.
Cameron Kerr
- Midfield – Chapel Hill, N.C. – NC Fusion Academy
- Before Duke: Plays his soccer with the NC Fusion Academy … Was a member of the Chapel Hill High School team as a sophomore, leading the team to the state finals … Scored five goals and had 20 assists as the playmaker for Chapel Hill HS … Has started five of eight games played for the Fusion U18-19 squad this season … Started 25 of 35 games played for the U16-17 squad last season … Scored three goals in his first year with the team.
- Personal: Son of Duke head coach John Kerr and Tracy Kerr … Has one brother, Drew, and a twin sister, Alexandra … Sister is committed to play soccer at Vanderbilt.
Scotty Taylor

- Before Duke: Most recently has been a member of the New York Red Bulls Academy program … Played one season with North Carolina FC for U14 squad … Invited to the U16 U.S. National Team camp … Selected to the USSDA Eastern Region Best XI team … One of the top five goal scorers in the country for the past three seasons … Has started six of seven games for the Red Bulls U18-19 squad this season … Has an impressive seven goals in the seven outings … Helped the Red Bulls finish atop the Atlantic Division last season … Started all 24 games he played for the U16-17 squad and scored 23 goals … Also played up with the U18-19 squad in seven games last season and netted one goal … Tallied 15 goals in 23 outings with the U15-16 team during the 2016-17 campaign and 19 goals for U13-14 team in the year prior.

- Before Duke: A three-year standout for the University of Virginia … Will enroll in Duke’s Master of Liberal Arts Studies program … A two-time All-ACC pick, garnering third team recognition as a sophomore and second team honors his junior season … Also picked up All-Region accolades both seasons … Starting center back in 2016 for the Cavaliers and played all but 10 minutes … Started all 21 games in 2017 and ranked fourth on the team in minutes played … Registered six goals with three of them being game winners last season … Anchored the defense to 16 shutouts in his two seasons as a starter … Came to Virginia after one season at Fresno Pacific University.
