Duquesne women’s soccer announces 5-player recruiting class
PITTSBURGH – On Friday, Duquesne women’s soccer head coach Al Alvine announced his five-member 2020 incoming recruiting class. Emma Bundy, Brooke Kirstein, Maddy Neundorfer, Karley Steinher and Brianna Wons are set to join the Dukes’ roster for the upcoming season.
Emma Bundy
Fr. • 5-6 • Forward
Wexford, Pa./North Allegheny
Club: Beadling Soccer Club
- Four-year starter at North Allegheny, serving as a captain her senior season
- Led the Tigers in scoring all four seasons
- Three-time all-section First Team
- Three-time All-WPIAL
- Three-time Big 56 First Team
- Led North Allegheny in undefeated WPIAL Championship run in 2019
- Scholar-Athlete all four years
- Led Beadling to 2019-20 national championship appearance
- Plans to major in biology
Alvine on Bundy: Emma is a talented, athletic and versatile forward capable of playing anywhere across the front line. Her ability to get behind defenses, take on players and score goals will make her a welcome addition to our talented group of attacking players.
Brooke Kirstein
Fr. • 5-8 • Forward
Leesburg, Va./Loudon County High School
Club: FC Virginia
- Earned all-state, all-county, all-region and all-conference honors as a junior
- Selected to second-team all-conference during sophomore campaign in VSHL 4A state championship season
- Helped the Raiders to a state championship match during her junior season
- Posted 34 goals and 42 assists during her three-year career
- Plans to major in business
Alvine on Kirstein: Brooke’s strengths are her creativity on the ball as well as her vision and ability to read the game. As an attacking personality, she’s consistently demonstrated the ability to create scoring opportunities for herself as well as her teammates.
Maddy Neundorfer
Fr. • 5-9 • Goalkeeper
Monroeville, Pa./Gateway

- PA Soccer Coaches Association All-State selection in 2019
- Top Drawer Soccer All-American in 2019
- Three-time all-section
- Two-time All-WPIAL
- Recorded over 650 saves in her career
- 0.83 goals against average
- 93% save percentage
- Member of the U.S. Youth Soccer’s Olympics Development Program
- Participated in ODP’s Interregional showcase
- Plans to major in public health
Alvine on Neundorfer: It’s been fun watching Maddy develop into one of the top goalkeepers in the region over the last few years. She gained tremendous experience in her travels with the Region 1 ODP team which will serve her well as she makes the transition to the college level. Her broad skill set and tireless work ethic will make the competition for the goalkeeping spot very intense.
Karley Steinher
Fr. • 5-11 • Defender
Cincinnati, Ohio/Anderson

- Named Eastern Cincinnati Conference Player of the Year as a senior
- Earned first team all-state, all-region, and all-city honors
- Selected to All-Southwest All Star Team in 2019
- Archie Griffin Sportsmanship Award winner in 2016
- Three-time conference academic award winner
- Led the Lady Redskins to a league, sectional and district championship in 2019
- Totaled 26 goals and eight assists during her high school career
- All-district honorable mention for basketball
- Plans to major in biology
Alvine on Steinher: Karley is comfortable playing in the heart of the defense or as a holding midfielder. She’s a physical and athletic ball winner but her presence and composure on the ball is what makes her special. I’m really excited about what she’ll bring to our program.

Club: SJEB Rush
- 2020 All-NJGSCA Honoree
- Helped SJEB Rush to a US Youth Soccer National Championship
- Played in USYS National League in 2017 and 2018
- Plans to major in nursing
Alvine on Wons: Brianna is a defender that has the ability to play anywhere along the back line. Her soccer IQ and mobility are the qualities that really stand out, but she’s a willing and able playmaker out of the back with an exceptional ability to deliver on set pieces.
