ECNL alums account for 62 percent of players in NCAA Women’s Soccer Power 5 Conferences
RICHMOND, VA – The 2019 women’s college soccer regular season saw alums from the ECNL Girls have their biggest on-field impact in history, with growth in the incredible total number of players in the Power 5, and in the stunning impact these players are having.
The ECNL College Impact chronicles the unprecedented influence of ECNL alums as leaders at the collegiate level, showcasing their achievements and overall effect on the game both on and off the field.
Consistent with previous years, ECNL Alums have again overwhelmingly dominated the 2019 individual conference honors in the “Power 5” conferences – the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC), Big Ten Conference, Big 12 Conference, Southeastern Conference (SEC), and the Pac-12 Conference. In total, there are over 1,100 ECNL Alums playing in these five conferences, accounting for more than 62% of all rostered players in the Power 5.
“The goal of the ECNL has always been to provide a platform that supports and enables each ECNL club to meet the needs of their players. These Power 5 numbers quantify the magic that happens when amazing players are given the right environment for their development,” said Jen Winnagle, Commissioner, ECNL Girls. “Each of the young women playing at the collegiate level today are raising the expectations for the next generation. We are proud to count so many of them as ECNL Alums and look forward to celebrating their continued success on the field and in life.”
