ECNL Girls Midwest Conference Super Cup kicks off inaugural competition

RICHMOND, Va. – ECNL Girls announced the launch of the Midwest Conference Super Cup programming.

Bringing together standout players from each club’s U15-U19 age groups into a single team, the ECNL Super Cup creates a unique platform for additional training, competition and development opportunities for these players. Ten clubs will field Super Cup teams to compete in the Midwest Conference Super Cup platform this spring.

“The ECNL Super Cup is an incredible opportunity for athletes to participate in unique additional programming to continue their development, and we are very excited to see the Midwest Conference get this platform off the ground,” said ECNL Midwest Conference Board Member and St. Louis Scott Gallagher ECNL Director Ralph Richards. “The Super Cup pushes the boundaries of what clubs can offer their best players, without sacrificing the developmental opportunities for every other athlete in the league.”

There are no points, league standings, or post-season qualifications in the Super Cup. The platform provides a day-in, day-out training model with great games for top players.

Super Cup rosters have players in every age group from U15 to U18/19 to provide different development opportunities to all ages. Rosters are fluid and able to change day-by-day based on performance and development, at the club’s discretion, with matches scheduled to avoid overlap with ECNL National Events and other club programming.

“This platform is truly about player development,” continued Richards. “The challenges and opportunities in a mixed age group youth environment are similar to what these players will experience in college and beyond, and introducing it to them at these ages will greatly help individual growth. Watching players in this environment will also be really beneficial for college and other coaches to see how it brings different attributes out from the players.”

The 10 clubs competing in the Midwest Conference Super Cup are as follows:

  • Eclipse Select SC
  • Indiana Fire
  • FC Wisconsin
  • KC Athletics
  • Michigan Hawks
  • Midwest United
  • Minnesota Thunder United
  • Ohio Elite
  • Sporting Blue Valley
  • St. Louis Scott Gallagher
