ECNL: Md. rivals Freestate, Bethesda face off this weekend

Bethesda SC and Freestate Soccer Alliance’s Under-14 through U-18 sides will clash in a cross-state ECNL rivalry matchup on Saturday.

Records and standings of the two teams in the Mid-Atlantic Conference:

U-14: Freestate (9-6-0, 4th place, 1.80 ppg), Bethesda SC 1-15-0, 10th place, 0.19 ppg)
Game time/location: 4 p.m., Walter Johnson HS Turf Field

U-15: Freestate (8-2-4, 3rd place, 2.00 ppg), Bethesda SC (5-3-4, 6th place, 1.58 ppg)

U-16: Freestate (7-4-2, 4th place, 1.77 ppg), Bethesda SC (6-4-2, 5th place, 1.67 ppg)
Game time/location: 2 p.m., Maryland Soccerplex Field 8

U-17: Bethesda SC (6-2-4, 3rd place, 1.83 ppg), Freestate (6-6-1, 5th place, 1.46 ppg)

U-18: Freestate (6-4-4, 3rd place, 1.57 ppg), Bethesda SC (2-6-4, 8th place, 0.83 ppg)
Game time/location: 4 p.m., Maryland Soccerplex Field 8

FC Virginia’s U-17s and U-14s are in first place, with the U-17s sporting a 13-2-2 record and a 2.41 points-per-game average, while the U-14s are 10-1-3, with a 2.36 ppg.

FC Virginia and Freestate Soccer Alliance’s U-18s, though, occupy the second and third place slots, respectively.

In the U-16s, McLean Youth Soccer, Freestate, Bethesda SC and Richmond Strikers hold down third through sixth place, in that order. In U-15 play, Freestate, McLean, FC Virginia and Bethesda sit third through sixth.

Southeast Conference play resumes this weekend for U-14s, with Virginia Rush hosting CASL Chelsea Ladies at the Hampton Roads Soccer Complex’s Field 6 at noon.

In an matchup of Virginia teams, Southeast Conference’s Richmond Strikers host Mid-Atlantic Conference’s FC Virginia at Striker Park Field 5 at 11:30 a.m.
