ECNL Phoenix Recap: East Team wins Selection Game + 40 teams earn perfect records

PHOENIX, AZ – The best of the best at ECNL Phoenix took the field at Reach 11 Sports Complex for the Continental Tire ECNL National Selection Game. (ROSTERS)
The East opened the scoring in the 14th minute when Samantha Maudsley (Utah Avalanche) fired home a rocket over the goalie perfectly placed into the side netting to grab the early 1-0 lead.
The East doubled their lead in the early minutes of the second half when Jaidyn Williams (Pateadores) launched a long distance strike into the corner of the net to put the East up 2-0.
It wasn’t long before the West answered back and got on the board for their first of the night though. Nyashadzashe Chinyadza (Michigan Hawks) got on the end of a ball played across the face of goal and slotted it home to cut the East lead in half at 2-1.
The West pushed to tie the game up in the second half, but in the 65th minute the East extended their lead back to two goals when Williams struck again, getting in past the defense and finishing off her second goal of the night to secure the 3-1 win for the East.

After the game, Williams who was named the Player of the Match for her two goal night said she dreamed of this moment.
“It’s a great experience. This environment is crazy, like something you wouldn’t even imagine. I’ve dreamed of this,” Williams said.
Williams said the support of her friends and family in attendance was also extremely important to her.
“It’s a dream come true. My friends and family are here always supporting me. It’s great to have them by my side at all times,” she continued. “It’s a great experience. This environment is crazy, like something you wouldn’t even imagine. I’ve dreamed of this.”
Perfect Weekends
This weekend in Phoenix, 40 teams went a perfect 3-0 across the six age groups in action. In the older age groups Arizona Arsenal, Crossfire Academy, Davis Legacy, Eagles SC, San Diego Surf, and San Juan SC were 3-0 in the 2008, while in the 2009 Bay Area Surf, Colorado Rush Academy, Legends FC, LV Heat Surf, Oklahoma Energy FC, Pateadores, Slammers FC, and Utah Royals FC-AZ all went 3-0, and in the 2010 Arizona Arsenal, FC Stars Blue, LA Breakers FC, LAFC So Cal, Legends FC, MVLA, and Slammers FC all finished the weekend 3-0.
In the younger age groups, Connecticut FC, FC Dallas, Legends FC, Michigan Hawks, MVLA, Pateadores, Phoenix Rising, and Slammers FC HB Køge went 3-0 in the 2011 age group, while LAFC So Cal, Legends FC San Diego, Pateadores, Phoenix Rising, Rebels SC, Slammers FC HB Køge, and So Cal Blues were 3-0 in the 2012 age group. In the 2013 division, Pateadores, Slammers FC, Slammers FC HB Køge, So Cal Blues all finished their weekends 3-0 as well.
