Five Midwest Developmental League boys teams earn NPL Finals berths
LOVES PARK, Ill. (Via US Club Soccer) – The 2015-16 Midwest Developmental League (Boys) playoffs concluded this past weekend with five teams winning their respective age groups, and in doing so, each team has qualified to the 2016 NPL Finals.
Sockers FC Chicago proved its talent on the field by clinching the U-13 and U-16 age groups. Sockers FC Chicago was the only club to win multiple age groups, demonstrating the range of competition within the league.
- U-13: Sockers FC Chicago (Ill.)
- U-14: FC Wisconsin (Wis.)
- U-15: St. Louis Scott Gallagher (Ill.)
- U-16: Sockers FC Chicago (Ill.)
- U-18: Campton United SC (Ill.)
The league playoff event included the top four teams in each age group – the top team from the Academy Division and top team from the Independent Division, plus the next two teams with highest points/game totals (regardless of division).
The 2016 NPL Finals, open to U-13 through U-18 boys and girls age groups, will be held July 14-18 at Aurora Sports Park in Aurora, Colo. One of the most prestigious championships in the country, the NPL Finals features the champions of NPLs across the United States. Teams play several group games before advancing to knock-out rounds to determine the NPL national champion in every age group.
