Florida voted No. 1 in SEC women’s soccer preseason poll

Birmingham, Ala. (Via SEC) – Florida was predicted to win to the 2016 Southeastern Conference women’s soccer title in voting by the league’s 14 head coaches. This marks the 18th time that the Gators have been tabbed by the coaches to win the title.

The Gators received 165 points that included 10 first-place votes, topping Texas A&M’s 154 points (four first-place votes).

Florida is ranked seventh in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Preseason Rankings while Texas A&M is eighth, Auburn 12th, Ole Miss 22nd and South Carolina 24th. LSU is among the teams receiving votes in the poll.

Points were compiled on a 13-12-11-10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 basis, though each coach was not allowed to vote for their own team.

The 24th season of women’s soccer in the SEC season begins August 19.
