Former Bowling Green standout Kathleen Duwve joins DePaul coaching staff
CHICAGO – DePaul women’s soccer coach Michele O’Brien announced that Kathleen Duwve has joined the staff as an assistant coach. Duwve will work with DePaul’s goalkeepers after playing four impressive seasons at Bowling Green and two seasons professionally.
“We are really excited to add Kathleen Duwve to our staff and know she will make an immediate impact on our program,” said O’Brien. “Kathleen was a standout goalkeeper at Bowling Green, and with her experiences playing professionally overseas and most recently in NY/NJ, we know she will bring a high level training mentality to our team. She is a genuine, caring person with a strong desire to learn and grow as coach, and we couldn’t be more excited for her to join us and can’t wait for her to get started.”
Duwve finished her collegiate career as Bowling Green’s all-time leader in career winning percentage and goals against average and was ranked among the top five all-time in every goalkeeping category. She led Bowling Green to back-to-back NCAA appearances after claiming both the regular season and tournament championship in the Mid-American Conference (MAC) in 2018 and 2019.
“I couldn’t be more excited for the opportunity to begin my coaching career at DePaul University! I am eager to give back to the sport I love and so excited to open this next chapter in my life,” said Duwve. “Having the chance to work alongside and learn from Michele and Rachel is something I’m really looking forward to!”
She also picked up first team All-Conference honors in the MAC as well as United Soccer Coaches All-Midwest Region awards. Academically, Duwve was on the Academic All-MAC Team, a MAC Distinguished Scholar Athlete and earned the MAC Commissioner’s Award.
Following her collegiate career, Duwve played professionally for Apulia Trani ASD in Italy’s Serie C before returning to the United States to play for the Gotham Reserves (NJ/NY) in the WPSL. She holds United Soccer Coaches certifications in Goalkeeping Level 1, Grassroots Coaching and 11v11 License.
