Four Colombia players ruled out for tonight’s friendly vs. USWNT due to COVID-19

CHICAGO – Four players from the Colombia Women’s National Team have been ruled out of today’s match against the USA at Exploria Stadium (7 p.m. ET on FS1) due to COVID-19 protocols.

A staff member in the Colombia delegation tested positive for COVID-19 on Saturday after taking a test on arrival to Orlando. After contact tracing was instituted with the full cooperation and assistance of the Colombia team staff and players, it was determined that the staff member had contact classified as “low risk” with the three players. The staff member and three players were immediately isolated.

The three players took additional tests that came back with negative results, but out of an abundance of caution, both Federations have agreed to hold the players out of the match.

Following that cautious approach, a fourth player will also not play in the match after she received inconclusive test results since arriving to Orlando.

If the four players test negative over the coming days, they could be cleared to play in the second meeting between the two teams on Jan. 22 at Exploria Stadium.

All other members of the Colombia delegation, players and staff, tested negative on arrival and in multiple tests during their pre-camp prior to traveling to Orlando.
