Gedion Zelalem cleared to play as Ramos finalizes U.S. U-20 World Cup roster

CHICAGO (Via U.S. Soccer) – U.S. Under-20 Men’s National Team head coach Tab Ramos has finalized the 21-player roster that will represent the United States at the 2015 FIFA U-20 World Cup in New Zealand, which runs from May 30-June 20.

The roster is updated from the 20-player group initially named by Ramos on May 7 and will be submitted by May 15 in accordance with FIFA rules. Gedion Zelalem has been cleared by FIFA to represent U.S. Soccer in international competition and will be included in the squad. Goalkeeper Thomas Olsen has joined the team in place of Ethan Horvath.

The U.S. was drawn into Group A with host New Zealand, Ukraine and Myanmar. The team opens group play against Myanmar at 12 a.m. ET on May 30 in Whangarei, followed by matches with New Zealand on June 2 and Ukraine on June 5, both of which will be played in Auckland. All of the U.S.’s group matches will be broadcast live on FOX Sports 1 and NBC Universo.
