DALLAS, Texas (Via Dallas Cup) – The Dr Pepper Dallas Cup has announced that Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt will compete in the elite tournament’s 2017 Gordon Jago Super Group. The German club will replace Fluminense who was forced to withdraw due to financial restrictions.

Dallas Cup XXXVIII will mark the eleventh time for Eintracht Frankfurt to compete in the Gordon Jago Super Group, and the club’s 20th Dallas Cup appearance overall. The club was named co-champions of the Gordon Jago Super Group title in 2011 after extreme weather conditions cut the championship match versus Tigres short.

It was previously announced that the U15 Eintracht Frankfurt team will also be competing at Dr Pepper Dallas Cup. The U15 side looks to three-peat in their age bracket after claiming the U15 title in 2015 and 2016. Dr Pepper Dallas Cup, along with FC Dallas, co-hosts the Generation adidas Cup, the annual U17 MLS Developmental Academy tournament. The U17 Eintracht Frankfurt squad will be competing in the cup this April at the Toyota Soccer Center in Frisco.

Eintracht Frankfurt joins English Premier League sides Manchester United and Everton to become the third European club competing in this year’s Super Group. Liga MX champions Tigres, Israeli club Maccabi Haifa, Brazilian power Coritiba, and a trio of MLS academy teams, including 2016 U.S.S.D.A National Champions FC Dallas will also be competing, among others. In total, seven countries and four continents are represented in the Gordon Jago Super Group alone.
