Girls Academy League announces 9-club Frontier Conference

The Girls Academy League announced its sixth initial conference membership on Friday, with the reveal of the Frontier Conference.

Nine clubs from Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma and Texas will be competing in the Frontier Conference for the 2020-2021 season.

Five of the clubs are former Girls DA members: Colorado Rush (CO), Houston Dash (TX), Lonestar SC (TX), Oklahoma Energy FC (OK) and Sporting Blue Valley (KS). They will join Lou Fusz Athletic (MO), Rise SC (TX), San Antonio City SC (TX) and West Side Alliance (OK) as the inaugural member clubs.

The Frontier Conference is the sixth Girls Academy League conference to be announced. The Northeast, Southwest, Mid-America, Mid-Atlantic and Southeast Conferences have already been unveiled.

The Girls Academy League is a new competition platform launched by members of the Development Player League (DPL). The DPL has stated that it will continue to provide its clubs with flexibility in the following two key areas:

  • Permission for all players in the Girls Academy League to participate in high school soccer.
  • Revising the substitution rules to encourage clubs to better utilize their player pools, especially when showcasing their players to college coaches.
