Girls ECNL College Impact 2018 – Southeastern Conference (SEC)

RICHMOND, VA (Via ECNL)– For the fourth consecutive year, ECNL alums constitute the majority of women’s collegiate soccer players in the SEC. In 2018, ECNL Alums make up more than 67% of the entire SEC, and 65% of the conference’s individual honorees. The ECNL College Impact on the SEC, one of the top soccer conferences in the country, is overwhelming and continues to increase every year.

Ten years ago, the Girls ECNL transformed the landscape for girls’ soccer and began a movement that would impact all levels of women’s soccer. The ECNL College Impact catalogs the incredible impact ECNL Alums have on collegiate women’s soccer conferences across the country every year.

The ECNL College Impact for the SEC includes all players currently active on SEC rosters:

  • 263 ECNL Alum are currently playing in the SEC – more than 67% of the total players in the SEC.
  • There were 82 ECNL Alums in the 2018 SEC freshman class, nearly 70% of the total class.
  • 26 players from the SEC First Team, Second Team, and All-Freshman Team are ECNL Alums, 65% of the SEC Conference honorees.
  • The SEC Freshman Player of the Year (Haley Hopkins) and SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year (Emma Welch) are ECNL Alums.
  • 9 of the 14 players on the First Team All-SEC are ECNL Alums.

The SEC includes the University of Alabama, University of Arkansas, Auburn University, University of Florida, University of Georgia, University of Kentucky, Louisiana State University, University of Mississippi, Mississippi State University, University of Missouri, University of South Carolina, University of Tennessee, Texas A&M University, and Vanderbilt University.
