Global Premier Soccer to launch GPS Hillside Residential Academy
(Via Global Premier Soccer) – Global Premier Soccer (GPS) and Hillside School have announced the launch of the GPS Hillside Residential Academy for Fall 2018. Now, for the first time in the U.S., a program offering full time GPS soccer training and a world class education is available to select students at one of the nation’s top middle schools.
The Academy will open in the fall of 2018 for boys in grades 6, 7, and 8 (2005, 2006, 2007 birth years) and will offer selected players a first-class educational and soccer experience. The project fulfills a long-term aim for GPS and builds on the success of the organization’s residential programs in the United Kingdom and Spain. This is the first step in GPS Residential programming with the club aiming to offer a Girls Academy next. In 2017, GPS partnered with Hillside to become an anchor tenant at the school’s new turf field on the campus located in Marlborough, MA, thirty minutes west of Boston.
Hillside is an independent school for 160 boys in grades five through nine with a student to teacher ratio of 7:1. The school boasts a state of the art Innovation Center directed by an MIT trained innovation expert reflecting its commitment to 21st century skill building. Graduates martriculate to the most select secondary schools including Andover, Exeter, Choate, St. Paul’s, BB&N, Belmont Hill, Rivers, Groton, Middlesex, St. Mark’s and more.

Hillside has gained athletic notoriety thanks to its residential hockey program which is considered to be one of the best in the country. In the past year alone, Hillside alums have been recruited by Division I colleges including West Point, UMaine, Michigan Tech, and Holy Cross. The school’s residential program experience, combined with GPS’s success in Spain and the UK, underscores the exceptional potential of the Residential Soccer Academy and its benefits to promising student athletes.
GPS Hillside Residential Academy students will complete a full academic workload in the classroom, structured around a soccer-specific training schedule in the morning, afternoon and evening. GPS coaches will run all aspects of soccer provision as well as an extensive sports performance and sports psychology program.
“Part of the GPS mission is to enhance the soccer experience of players and we feel the GPS Hillside Residential Academy will provide an unparalleled opportunity for young players in Massachusetts (and beyond) to develop their game in a professional environment,” said GPS Director of Coaching Peter Bradley. “The increased contact time with our coaching staff, and the first rate facilities at Hillside will create an outstanding development program for all accepted students,” said Bradley.
“Today, more than ever before, schools and colleges are seeking the elite level of student athlete,” commented Hillside Head of School Ed Chase. “There is no other residential soccer program in the country that will provide the unbeatable combination of GPS’s elite level of training and development with Hillside’s superior education. The GPS Hillside Residential Academy will offer life-changing opportunities.”
GPS will be conducting meetings for interested families during January and February in New England as well as online webinars for those outside of the area.
