Process to elect new U.S. Soccer Vice-President has begun

CHICAGO (Via U.S. Soccer) – The process to elect a new U.S. Soccer Vice-President has kicked off and will culminate at the National Council Meeting during U.S. Soccer’s Annual General Meeting on Saturday, Feb. 16, 2019, in Scottsdale, Arizona.

The new Vice-President will assume the officer position vacated by Carlos Cordeiro when he was elected President of U.S. Soccer this past February.

Because this election is to fill a vacancy, the term of the newly elected Vice President will last one year, to next year’s National Council meeting, during which a new Vice Presidential election will be held to elect a candidate to a four-year term.

The nomination process is detailed in Policy 401-1. Interested candidates must submit three letters of support on official letterhead from an Organization Member (as defined in Bylaw 302) and/or one of three Athlete Representatives on the Board of Directors (as listed here), submit to a background check and complete a conflict of interest disclosure. The policy governing the nomination and campaign process for the 2019 U.S. Soccer Vice Presidential election is available HERE.

The deadline for candidates to submit conflicts disclosures and letters of support is Dec. 18. The Policy also requires supplementation of conflicts disclosures as the election nears.
