Indiana University inks six women’s soccer recruits to National Letters of Intent
BLOOMINGTON, Ind.— Indiana Women’s Soccer announced their 2021 signing class on Wednesday afternoon. The Hoosiers will add six to their 2021 roster.
Ava Akeel (Rochester, Mich.), Ryleigh Anslinger (Evanville, Ind.), Jordyn Levy (Dix Hills, N.Y.), Sydney Masur (Montclair, N.J.), Kelly Monaco (Dumont,N.J.), and Haley Osborne (Santa Claus, Ind.) have all signed their National Letters of Intent to play for the Hoosiers next fall. The class of 2021 becomes Head Coach Erwin van Bennekom‘s second signing class since taking over the program in 2019.
Levy, Monaco, Masur and Osborne will graduate from high school this December and join Indiana at the start of the spring semester. They will also be joined by 2020 signees Anna Aehling (Germany U20 National team and FSV Gutersloh 2009)) and Gabi Rennie (New Zealand U20 National Team and Canterbury United)). Akeel and Anslinger will be joining their class for preseason next August.
Ava Akeel | Midfielder | Rochester, Mich./Michigan Hawks
Akeel joins IUWS after playing club with the Michigan Hawks. Last year, Akeel’s team became an ECNL National Finalist. (She will join currently rostered Hawks alumni, Bethany Kopel and Mads Carlson). The daughter of Nezar and Tracy Akeel, she has three older brothers, Zack, Noah and Gabe. Gabe is a current student at Indiana University and her father played college soccer at Eastern Michigan. Akeel plans to study Pre-Med at Indiana.
Ryleigh Anslinger | Forward | Evansville, Ind./Indiana Fire Juniors
Anslinger will join Indiana following her final spring season with the Indiana Fire Juniors. Ryleigh also played high school for Reitz Memorial, where she was captain and on the high school All-American watch list. During her 2019-20 high school season, Anslinger was named All-Region Team, First Team All-State, All-Metro Player of the Year, All-City Player of the Year, First Team All-Metro, First Team All-City, First Team SIAC and First Team All-District. In 2018-19, she led the city in goals and assists, was named All-Metro Player of the Year First Team SIAC, First Team All-Metro and First Team All-City. A daughter of Ryan and Rebecca Anslinger, she has three siblings, Averi, Carson and Maxx.
Jordyn Levy | Forward | Dix Hills, N.Y. /SUSA FC Academy
Levy will join Indiana in December following her career with SUSA Academy and Half Hollow Hills High School west. In club soccer she has captained her team for over five years and was named to the ECNL All-Conference team in 2019. She also attended the 2018 Generation Adidas International Olympique Lyonnais select training program in France. In high school, Levy is a three-time All-League, All-County, All-State First Team honoree. She also won Suffolk County Offensive Player of the Year twice, was an All-American her junior year and has served as the team captain for two years. Jordyn is ranked #138 on Top Drawer Soccer. A daughter of Steven and Jennifer Levy, she has two siblings, Ryan and Taylor. Levy plans to study in the Kelley School of Business.
Sydney Masur | Midfielder | Montclair, N.J./Match Fit Academy FC
Masur will join Indiana following her career with the Match Fit Academy FC and Montclair High School, where she is the Team Captain for both. In 2019, she was named First Team All-Conference, top 20 in the North Region, Third Team All-Group, won the Essex County Championship and won the State Sectional Championship. She was also named First Team All-Conference in 2018. Off the field she has been a member of the National Honor Society throughout high school. A daughter of David and Shannon Masur, she has three siblings, Samantha, Jessica and Christopher. Her father David played soccer at Rutgers University and went on to play professionally. He is now the Head Coach of the St. John’s Men’s Soccer team who won an NCAA National Championship in 1996. Sydney Masur plans to study Finance at Indiana.
Kelly Monaco | Midfielder | Dumont, N.J. /STA
Moncao will join Indiana from STA following her graduation from Dumont High School in December. Monaco has attended two US Youth National Camps, an ID2 national camp, and an ODP national camp. She is currently ranked #86 on Top Drawer Soccer. A daughter of John and Noreen Monaco, she has three siblings, Kara, John and Jenna. Monaco is planning to study Exercise Science at Indiana.
Haley Osborne | Forward | Santa Claus, Ind./Indiana Fire Juniors
Osborne comes to Indiana from Indiana Fire Juniors and Heritage Hills High School. She holds the school record for most career goals, which she completed in only two years of varsity competition. She also holds the school record for most goals in a season, and is tied for most assists in a season. Additionally, she has been named All-Conference, All-District and was an All-State Honorable Mention. A daughter of Dwayne and Mandy Osborne, she has three siblings, Tyler and Hunter Osborne, and Taylor Thomas. Osborne plans to study Elementary Education at Indiana.
