Jefferson Cup announces Inter Milan Academy as Sporting Partner ahead of 2024 event
MILANO – Football Club Internazionale Milano (Inter Milan) has confirmed the club’s involvement in the Jefferson Cup, one of the top American youth football tournaments, through the Inter Academy project. Over 1,700 teams from all over the U.S. take part in the prestigious competition.
Inter Academy will be a Sporting Partner of the competition and the only European football club to partner with the tournament. Inter Academy’s involvement in the Jefferson Cup is part of the Inter Academy Strikers project, which opened last summer in collaboration with Richmond Strikers Soccer Club.
The collaboration between the club and the Jefferson Cup will take shape in March, with a Nerazzurri legend set to attend the tournament along with a coach from the Inter Academy group.
“It is a great satisfaction for us to take part, through our Inter Academy project, in one of the main youth football tournaments in the United States,” said Alessandro Antonello, Corporate CEO of FC Internazionale Milano, via translation. “Being the only European club taking part in the project testifies to the ever-growing value of our brand in the American territory and allows us to further consolidate our presence in a territory that is highly strategic for us, also due to the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup to which Inter has already qualified.”
The partnership was made official on Thursday in California during the United Soccer Coaches Convention, an event put together by the biggest group of football coaches in the world, at which Inter was represented by a delegation led by Vice President Javier Zanetti and Youth Sector Director Massimo Tarantino.
This year’s Jefferson Cup will take place over the course of four weekends in March, and will feature more than 1,700 teams across the U9-U19 Boys and Girls age groups. For more on the 2024 Jefferson Cup, click here.
