Liberty women’s soccer program signs 10 Class of 2024 recruits from 7 states

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Liberty Head Coach Lang Wedemeyer and the Lady Flames soccer program have announced the signing of 10 new student-athletes.
“We are very excited about this talented class that we are signing today. There is a great balance positionally with tremendous athleticism, technical ability and tactical understanding,” Wedemeyer said of the signing class. “Beyond all of that, they are all great people who will be wonderful Champions for Christ.”
The 2023 signing class consists of players from seven different states, including two each from Georgia, Pennsylvania and North Carolina. The class includes local signing from Forest, Va. along with others from Maryland, Colorado and Oklahoma.

Gabriella Bazan | Midfielder | Tulsa, Okla.
Bazan attends Broken Arrow High School, where she played under head coach Kassie Embrey. A three-year starter and letterwinner for the Tigers, Bazan was named to the All-District 6A team. The midfielder recorded 15 goals and eight assists in three years for Broken Arrow High School. She was featured in Soccer Wire’s Players to Watch list in the 2006 Girls age group (Southwest Region).
Bazan was also a starter for ECNL’s Tulsa SC. She was one of Prep Soccer’s ECNL Florida: Standout Performances 2024s, Soccer Wire’s Players that impressed: ECNL Girls Houston National Event 2023, ECNL National Champ 2023 Showcase B and ECNL 2023 Texas All-Conference first team.
Coach Wedemeyer – “Gaby is a fantastic ball winner who is a great connector between lines. She has a unique ability to pull the strings for the flow of play.”
Margaret Garner | Forward | Monroe, N.C.
Garner attends Porter Ridge High School, where she played under head coach Jade Cheron. Garner is a four-year starter and letterwinner and will be a three-time team captain. At Porter Ridge, she was selected to the DiVarsity Soccer All-Conference team three times and was on the All-Region team in her junior year.
A multi-sport athlete, Garner also holds track & field school records in the 400, 500, 4 x 100 relay and 4 x 400 relay. She was also a Track Regional Champion State Qualifier for three years. Garner also played basketball her freshman year and was named the MVP Freshman.
She plays club soccer for Charlotte Development Academy.
Margaret’s sister, Sallie Garner, is a current redshirt freshman on the Liberty women’s soccer team. Sallie was named to the 2023 Conference USA All-Freshman team on Oct. 31.
Coach Wedemeyer – “Margaret is a remarkable athlete who has a fitness level that allows her to run all day. She will be a true threat up top running in behind defenses.”
Danielle Gubbels | Defender | Lone Tree, Colo.
Gubbels attends Mountain Vista High School, where she played under head coach Theresa Echtermeyer. Gubbels was a two-time starter and three-year letterwinner at Mountain Vista. She was named her team’s Most Improved Player in 2022, the Defensive MVP and received the team’s Golden Eagle Award in 2023. Gubbels was named to the Continental All-League first team and the CHSAA Academic All-State first team for the 2022-23 season.
Gubbels also played for the ECNL’s Real Colorado Club.
Coach Wedemeyer – “Dani is a great defender with excellent vision to find the right pass and the right time. She is composed and feisty at the same time.”
Alden Hays | Goalkeeper | Atlanta, Ga.
Hays attends Fellowship Christian School, where she played under head coach Andy Trevors. She was a four-year starter and letterwinners where she recorded 15 shutouts and allowed just two goals in 2023. Hays helped guide the Paladins to a title in the GHSA 2023 Class AA Girls Soccer State Championship.
Hays was also selected to participate in the Varsity High School All-Star Game in 2023. She was selected to the GACA All-State AA Girls first team and the GHSA AA-8 second team all-region.
A multi-sport, Hays also was a four-year starter and letterwinner for the Paladins basketball team where she was a captain for one season.
Coach Wedemeyer – “Alden has great presence as a keeper and really commands her box. She has clean hands and reads the game well.”
Maddyson Kerley | Defender | Mooresville, N.C.
Kerley attends Pine Lake Preparatory School where she played under head coach Paul Ebenhoch. Kerley was a three-year starter and letterwinner and was a captain for a season. She tallied 47 goals and 28 assists, including 14 assists during the 2022-23 season. Kerley has been named to three all-conference and all-region teams and two all-state teams at Pine Lake.
Kerley also played club soccer for Charlotte Development Academy, helping lead her team to a title in the DPL National Championship in June 2023.
Coach Wedemeyer – “Maddyson is a smooth, confident center-back with great range of passing and the ability to dribble penetrate to unlock pressure defenses.”
Haley Noblit | Midfielder/Forward | Hagerstown, Md.
Noblit attends Greencastle-Antrim High School where she played under head coach Chris Noblit. She was a four-year starter and letter-winner and captain for a season. She tallied a school record 110 goals while recording 51 assists, in her time at Greencastle-Antrim. Noblit is a three-time Mid-Penn Colonial Division Champion and first-team al-conference member and was named the Mid-Penn Colonial Player of the Year in 2023.
A multi-sport athlete, Noblit was also a three-year starter and letterwinner in basketball where she tallied 832 points, 225 assists and 205 steals.
She plays club soccer for Bethesda SC in the ECNL.
Coach Wedemeyer – “Haley is a very versatile player who can play pretty much any position on the field. She is a quiet, but fierce competitor who knows how to win.”
Sabrina Marks | Defender | Lancaster, Pa.
Marks attends Owen T. Roberts High School where she played under head coach Joe Margusity. She was a four-year starter and letterwinner and was named a team captain for two seasons. She helped lead her team to two league championships, the state quarterfinals and state semifinals.
Marks also played for FC Revolution. Marks’ brother, Pierce Marks, played soccer for Division lll Delaware Valley.
Coach Wedemeyer – “Sabrina is an incredibly tough and talented defender who routinely out-jumps players five to six inches taller than her. She doesn’t hesitate to put her body on the line to make defensive plays.”
Avery Paulson | Forward | Roswell, Ga.
Paulson attends Fellowship Christian School where she played under head coach Andy Trevers. She was a four-year starter and letterwinner and was named a team captain for two years. Paulson helped lead her team to a high school state soccer championship.
A multi-sport athlete, Paulson played basketball for three years and was a three-year starter and letterwinner. She was named the team’s best defensive player during her freshman and sophomore years.
She plays club soccer in the ECNL for GSA.
Coach Wedemeyer – “Avery is a dynamic attacking force up front. She loves to go 1v1, and she will fit perfectly into our offensive system.”
Abbie Vogel | Forward | Atlanta, Ga.
Vogel attends Lambert High School where she played under head coach Jen Wilson. She was a two-year starter, three-year letterwinner and was a captain for one year. She recorded 16 goals and 11 assists across her three seasons with the Longhorns.
Vogel was named to the all-region second her sophomore year and the all-region, all-county and DiVarsity team. In her freshman season, Vogel scored the game-winning goal to help her team advance to the final four in the playoffs.
She plays club soccer in the ECNL for United Futbol Academy in Georgia.
Vogel’s brother, Colin, is currently playing on Piedmont University’s men’s soccer team and is in his second season.
Coach Wedemeyer – “Abbie is a strong forward who can beat players off the dribble and is sophisticated enough to break defenses down with combination play.”
Isabella Wedemeyer | Midfielder | Forest, Va.
Wedemeyer attends Jefferson Forest High School where she played under head coach Matt Newton. She is a four-year starter and letterwinner and was a captain for two years. Wedemeyer helped lead her team to an undefeated regular season with 28 goals in the 2022-23 season.
Wedemeyer was named the District 4A and All-Region Player of the Year in her junior year. She has also been selected to the all-region first team, all-state second team and all-district first team during her high school career.
Isabella is the daughter of Liberty head coach Lang Wedemeyer. She plays club soccer in the Girls Academy for Skyline Elite SC.
