Lifetime achievement honorees to be recognized at 2014 US Youth Soccer Awards Gala

FRISCO, Texas — US Youth Soccer will honor the recipients of lifetime achievement awards at the 2014 US Youth Soccer Awards Gala on Friday, Jan. 17, at the Philadelphia Marriott Downtown in Philadelphia. Four new inductees will be welcomed into the US Youth Soccer Hall of Fame, while the Dr. Thomas Fleck Award for Excellence in Youth Coaching Education will also be awarded.

The Hall of Fame was established in 2007 with founder and first chairman of US Youth Soccer, Donald Greer, as the charter member. This year’s Hall of Fame class includes Dr. Thomas Fleck, Virgil Lewis, Charlotte Moran and Jon and Connie Bivens.

In addition to the Hall of Fame inductees, Bob Gansler will be awarded the Dr. Thomas Fleck Award to honor his lasting contributions to youth coaching and coaching education in the United States.

The Awards Gala will begin at 7:30 p.m. on Jan. 17 in the Grand Ballroom of the Philadelphia Marriott Downtown and will be hosted by The US Youth Soccer Show’s Hilary Kennedy.

In addition to five lifetime achievement honorees, the Male and Female Young Referee of the Year, Boys and Girls Recreational Coach of the Year, Boys and Girls Competitive Coach of the Year, TOPSoccer Buddy of the Year, Volunteer of the Year and Administrator of the Year national award winners will also be announced. Each award honors the individuals who give their time and effort to the organization by way of service.
