Lindsey Martin departs as head coach of VCU women’s soccer program

RICHMOND, Va. – VCU Athletics and Women’s Soccer Head Coach Lindsey Martin have decided to mutually part ways, Vice President and Director of Athletics Ed McLaughlin announced.

“I want to thank Lindsey for her service to VCU and wish her well in the next chapter of her career.  She and her staff recruited and developed an outstanding group of student-athletes who have had a positive influence on the community,” McLaughlin said.

“VCU is strongly positioned for the new era of college athletics, and we have broken ground on new facilities for training and competition that are expected to be completed in the next 18 months. Our expectations are to win conference championships and advance in the NCAA Tournament. We will work to hire a head coach who will help us reach those goals.”

Martin was 107-77-37 in 12 seasons.

“I am grateful for the 12 years I spent at VCU and all the wonderful relationships with coaches and players that afforded. Winning consistently at a high level is not easy, but I am proud of the results on and off the field during my tenure. Sometimes change is best, without any ill will or regret attached, and that is how I feel about parting ways with VCU. I wish the program and all the student-athletes that I was fortunate enough to coach nothing but success in the future,” Martin said.

A national search for a head coach will begin immediately.
