Local teams continue competition at 2012 ECNL National Championship event

The 2012 ECNL National Championship event continues this week at the Waukegan Sports Park, with a number of local teams competing.

Potomac Soccer Wire’s Jimmy LaRoue and Charles Boehm are in Illinois all week to provide updates, profiles and other timely information.

Here’s how local teams have fared so far this week:

U-14 Top 16
FC Virginia wrapped up their week with a 2-0 loss to Charlotte Soccer Academy, finishing with an 0-4 record at the event.

U-15 B Top 8
Freestate Soccer Alliance fell to FC Dallas 2-0 in their last match of the week on Tuesday afternoon. They finished 0-3 during the tournament.

After defeating local rival Freestate 5-1 on Monday, McLean fell 3-1 to Penn Fusion SA on Tuesday. They finished 1-2 on the week.

U-16 A Top 16
Freestate dropped their first game 3-2 to the Michigan Hawks on Wednesday, and then another close 3-2 match to FC Stars of Massachusetts on Thursday. They wrap up their week with a match against So Cal Blues SC today.

U-16 B 9-16 Placement
McLean has lost their only game of the week so far, falling 3-1 to Washington Premier. They have matches on Friday and Saturday against Eagles Soccer Club and Carolina Elite Soccer Academy.

Similarly, the Richmond Strikers fell 2-1 to Eagles Soccer Club on Thursday. They will play Washington Premier and Scorpions SC on Friday and Saturday.

U-17 A Top 16
Bethesda fell 4-2 to Scorpions SC on Wednesday, followed by a 3-2 victory over local rival FC Virginia yesterday. In their third match this morning, they edged out Colorado Rush 1-0.

In their first match of the week, FC Virginia fell just short as they lost 3-2 to Dallas Sting on Wednesday. They rounded out their week with their third match this morning, losing 2-0 to San Diego Surf.

U-17 B Top 8
McLean defeated Charlotte Soccer Academy 3-2 on Thursday in their first game of the event, and will play Washington Premier later this afternoon.
