Loudoun Soccer Showcase Preview and Games to Watch

The Loudoun Soccer Showcase will be played as scheduled this weekend following quick work by the club in getting the fields cleared off after another 2-3 inches of snowfall on Thursday.

Loudoun Soccer, the largest youth club in Virginia is hosting the showcase on its home fields at Loudoun Soccer Park in Leesburg and at Evergreen SportsPlex for the fourth time. Out of the 66 U-15 to U-19 girls and boys teams participating in the small but high-level tournament which runs from Feb. 27 to March 1, 12 are reigning State Cup champions.

U-15

  • Loudoun 99 Red vs. BRYC 99 Elite (Feb. 28, 6:30 p.m. @ Evergreen SportsPlex #2) 
    • A rematch of the 2014 Virginia State Cup semifinal which BRYC won 2-1. Loudoun (9-3-1) and BRYC (7-2-4) are second and fourth place respectively in the CCL U-15 Division. Loudoun won the Spring 2014 EDP Cup and August Cup top flights, and reached the Generation Adidas Bethesda Tournament top flight final. They also finished fifth in the Region I Premier League. BRYC was the Virginia State Cup finalist in 2014 and third in the Region I Premier League. BRYC also reached the August Cup and Jefferson Cup Elite Division finals, as well as the FC DELCO Players Cup semifinal.

U-16

  • BRYC 98 Elite vs. Herndon YS Rovers East (Feb. 28, 11 a.m. @ Evergreen SportsPlex #4)
    • BRYC has won the FC DELCO Players Cup and Generation Adidas Bethesda Tournament Liberty Division, placed second in the Region I Premier League and reached the Virginia State Cup final all in the past year. Herndon is coming off a run to the MSSL Winter Showcase and Spring EDP Cup finals, and a fourth place finish in the EDP 2014 Spring League 1st Division South.
  • Loudoun 98 Red vs. VSA Heat 98 Blue (Feb. 28, 11 a.m. @ Evergreen SportsPlex #3)
    • Loudoun is the reigning Region I champion and also reached the US Youth Soccer National Championships semifinals in 2014. They are currently leading the CCL U-16 Division with an 11-1-1 record, and are second in the US Youth Soccer National League Blue Division. They won the top flights of the 2014 OBGC Capital Cup and Annandale Premier Cup, and palced first in the National League and Region I Premier League. VSA Heat 98 Blue was a semifinalist in the top flights of three high level showcases in 2014: Spring EDP Cup, FC DELCO Players Cup and Annandale Premier Cup.

U-17

  • Beach FC 97 Red vs. Barça FC 97 Elite (Feb. 28, 5 p.m. @ Evergreen SportsPlex #4) 
    • Beach FC (6-5-2) is currently in fifth place in the Club Champions League U-17 Division, while Barça FC is the returning champion from the 2014 Loudoun Showcase. Barca placed fifth in the EDP Spring League 2014 1st Division South and won the US Club Soccer 2014 Southeast Regional. 

U-19

  • Annandale United FC 96 vs. BRYC 96 Elite (Feb. 27, 6:30 p.m. @ Evergreen SportsPlex #2) 
    • Reigning Virginia State Cup champion Annandale United FC 96 have also won the top flights of the Generation Adidas Bethesda Tournament, OBGC Capital Cup and USCS Southeast Regional in the past year. BRYC Elite will look to avenge losses to Annandale in the State Cup and OBGC Capital Cup finals. BRYC reached the 2014 Loudoun Soccer Showcase final and placed fourth in the Region I Colonial League.
  • Bethesda SC Blue 96 vs. Hershey 96 Orange Pride (Feb. 28, 12:30 p.m. @ Evergreen SportsPlex #2)
    • Bethesda recently won the PA Classics Winter Showcase Elite Division and the Generation Adidas Bethesda Tournament Seneca Division, and placed fourth in the Region I Colonial League. Hershey 96 Orange Pride is the reigning champion of the Pennsylvania East State Cup, Generation Adidas Bethesda Tournament Atlantic Division, MAPS 2014 Spring Challenge and PA Classics Winter Showcase top flight.

Girls

U-15

  • PWSI Courage 99 Red vs. Olney Girls 99 (Feb. 28, 12:30 p.m. @ Loudoun Soccer Park #1)
    • PWSI was a finalist in the 2014 Toys For Tots tournament and Jefferson Cup Qualifier, and a semifinalist in the WAGS Tournament A Flight and Spring EDP Cup. Olney Girls 99 placed third in the Spring 2014 EDP League and reached the semifinals of the Baltimore Mania Tournament and Spring EDP Cup.

U-16

  • Loudoun Soccer 98 Red vs. Cleveland FC 98-99 (Feb. 28, 2 p.m. @ Loudoun Soccer Park #1)
    • Loudoun is the reigning Virginia State Cup champion and US Youth Soccer Region I finalist. They won the 2014 Region I Premier League, Jefferson Cup Superior Division, Columbia Invitational Premier I Division and WAGS Tournament Showcase Division. They are currently second in the US Youth Soccer National League Red Division and first in the CCL U-16 Division with an 11-0-2 record.
    • Ohio North State Cup champion Cleveland FC ’98-’99 won the 2014 Jefferson Cup Platinum Division, earning an impressive 2-0 win over Continental FC DELCO ECNL in the final. Cleveland FC captured the Generation Adidas Bethesda Tournament Chesapeake Division title as well, going a perfect 3-0-0 with wins over Premier SC Real (MD), Albertson Fury ECNL and Continental FC DELCO ECNL once again.

U-17

  • FC Virginia United 97 vs. HMMS Eagle FC 97 Blaze (March 1, 9:30 a.m. @ Loudoun Soccer Park #2)
    • FC Virginia went a perfect 3-0-0 in the 2014 WAGS Tournament Showcase II Division and reached the Capital Fall Classic final. FCV is the returning Loudoun Showcase champion in this age group. HMMS won the 2014 PA Classics Winter Showcase Championship Division, reached the Challenger Invitational top flight final, the Columbia Invitational final and the MSSL Winter Showcase semifinal.

U-18

  • LDC United Lightning 96-97 vs. Alliance SC Premier 96 (Feb. 28, 12:30 p.m. @ Loudoun Soccer Park #2)
    • LDC United Lightning reached the semifinals of the 2014 Pennsylvania East State Cup, ASL Championships and Jefferson Cup Classic Division. Alliance SC won the 2014 Charlotte Moran Girls Showcase White Division and reached the semifinals of the MSSL Spring Showcase.
