LEESBURG, VA (Via Loudoun Soccer) – Loudoun Soccer has announced that John O’Hara, the club Director of Goalkeeping, has been hired by U.S. Soccer as the Under-17 Boys National Team Assistant coach. John and his family will relocate in the near future to Bradenton, FL where the team trains at IMG Academy.

O’Hara has previously spent time with the Under-15 and Under-18 Boys National teams during key trips to Argentina and Sweden respectively.

“We are very proud of John and recognize all the work he has done to help take our club to the next level,” said Darryl Gee, the clubs Technical Director. “He fully deserves the recognition this new position brings for him and we wish him great success with the Under-17 team. He will be missed at Loudoun Soccer, but we are pleased that U.S. Soccer has recognized the opportunity to bring him into the national program full-time.”

Coach O’Hara’s work has already begun. He returned to the USA this week with the Under-17 squad, who won the 2016 Montaigu Cup, beating the hosts France in a thrilling final.

“I’m grateful to Loudoun Soccer for providing me the opportunity to work with such an exciting club, great players, and wonderful coaches and staff,” O’Hara said. “I look forward to my work in Florida, but plan to continue to follow the success of Loudoun Soccer closely. I am grateful for the warm welcome both my family and I received here, and know that the club is in good hands going forward.”

Mark Ryan, Loudoun Soccer Travel Director, added, “We wish John all the best. We are thankful for the wonderful service he provided to our club and know he will put the same effort into his position with the Under-17 Boys team. We look forward to watching his success with the team.”

Dave Bucciero will take over as the clubs Director of Goalkeeping with immediate effect.
