(Via MLS) – MLS has announced that Mark Geiger was voted Referee of the Year for the second time in his career and Paul Scott was voted Assistant Referee of the Year.

Geiger had a standout year, having participated in the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. In his time down in the host country, Geiger was head referee in the Group C opener between Colombia and Greece as well as the game featuring Spain and Chile. The New Jersey-native made history when he was the first American to referee a knockout match when he was assigned to France vs. Nigeria. In Brazil, Geiger also played several supporting roles as he was the fourth official in the group match Italy vs. Uruguay, featuring the now infamous Suarez biting incident, and the semifinal game, Brazil vs. Germany.

These two awards were voted on by media, MLS players and MLS club management.
