Michigan State women’s soccer inks eight on National Signing Day
EAST LANSING, Mich. – Michigan State women’s soccer head coach Jeff Hosler announced on National Signing Day that eight student-athletes have committed to play soccer for the Spartans next season.
Maddie Brady, Maia Soulis, Maggie Illig, Ella Alati, Isa Agrusso, Allie Mairn, Emerson Sargeant and Morgan Gerak will join MSU and the women’s soccer squad in the fall of 2022.
“With very limited time to put this recruiting class together, I give a lot of credit to the coaching staff for doing such a good job identifying players and building relationships,” Hosler said. “This group embodies our program’s culture and will continue to elevate our play.”
“This class adds depth in all three lines of play and comes with a fierce competitive spirit that wants to grow all the time. I’m excited to have them join our Spartan family!”
Morgan Gerak
Villa Hills, Kent. | Dixie Heights
Position: Midfielder
Club Team: Kings Hammer Academy
CLUB: Played for Kings Hammer Academy under head coach Taron Jordon in the ECNL … Attended multiple national ID camps from 2015-19 and two regional national team camps.
HIGH SCHOOL: Two-year soccer player due to club commitments… Named First Team All-Region and All-State her junior year and was once the Cincinnati Enquirer Soccer Player of the Week … District champions and regional tournament finalists.
PERSONAL: Daughter of Patrick and Shannon Gerak … Plans to major in Biomedical Laboratory Science … Father played soccer for University of Kentucky and sister plans to play at Kentucky fall 2022.
Hosler on Gerak: “Morgan was a great late find for us and is a proper footballer. She has a really high football IQ, gets into great spots and is dangerous going forward on the dribble and in combination play.”
Ella Alati
Northville, Mich. | Northville
Position: Defender
Club Team: Michigan Jaguars
CLUB: Lifelong member of Michigan Jaguars, most recently under coach Dan Diac … Won two USYS National Championships in 2017 and 2018 and two Michigan state championships before moving to the US Soccer Development Academy. Was a key member of the 2020-21 Girls Academy Champions League Playoff team.
HIGH SCHOOL: Did not participate in high school athletics due to club soccer commitment.
PERSONAL: Daughter of Tony and Teri Alati … Plans to major in Business or Marketing at MSU … Parents, grandparents, aunt, three uncles and several cousins also attended MSU.
Hosler on Alati: “As a former winger, Ella brings great attacking ideas and ability to our backline. I’ve always noticed the way she tends to raise her level of play in big moments and is reliable.”
Maia Soulis

HIGH SCHOOL: Was a member of her school’s varsity basketball and track team … State qualifier in track her freshman year and broke the school record in the 4×100 and 4×400 … Regional Champ in 2020, All-State, State qualifier and set the school record in the 4×200 and 200 races.
PERSONAL: Daughter of Alyssa and Spencer Sargeant … Plans to major in Kinesiology … Both parents attended Michigan State class of 1995.
