Montreal Impact announces changes to youth academy technical staff

MONTREAL (Via Montreal Impact) – The Montreal Impact announced on Wednesday a few changes in the technical staff of its Academy.

Ex-Impact player Simon Gatti, who was previously an assistant coach with FC Montreal after a season as the Impact U14 head coach and one season as the Impact U16 head coach, becomes the Academy head scout and will be supported by Jean-Yves Grenouillat, who will be assistant scout. Their role will consist in strengthening the relationship with the Quebec Soccer Federation, develop and optimize the recruitment network and the communication with the local clubs’ and the regional associations’ technical directors across the province, as well as implementing efficient IT tools touching different fields of recruitment.

“We are happy to extend our scouting team at the Academy and have a better idea of the young talent you can find in the province,” said Academy director Philippe Eullaffroy.

Following the signing of Jack Stern as the first-team goalkeeper coach, Owen Braun becomes the Academy goalkeeper coach. He was previously the Pre-Academy goalkeeper coach and U13 and U14 goalkeeper coach.

Finally, Luca Leone becomes the Pre-Academy goalkeeper coach. It’s a first coaching role for Leone, who has been at the club for three years, including two with FC Montreal.
