Morgan Weaver and Morgan Gautrat added to USWNT roster for January camp
CHICAGO – Portland Thorns FC forward Morgan Weaver and Chicago Red Stars midfielder Morgan Gautrat have been added to the U.S. Women’s National Team roster for the January training camp in Austin, Texas running from Jan. 19-28.
NJ/NY Gotham FC defender Imani Dorsey was initially named to the roster but has been ruled out due to an injury. The two additions and one subtraction give U.S. WNT head coach Vlatko Andonovski 26 players for the camp.
The 28-year-old Gautrat, who enjoyed a fine NWSL season for the Red Stars in 2021, was a member of the USA’s 2015 and 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup championship teams and was also on the 2016 Olympic Team while competing under her maiden name, Brian. She debuted for the USA in 2013 when she was 20 years-old and has 87 caps and eight career goals. Her most recent training camp with the USWNT was in November of 2020 in Denver, Colorado.
The 24-year-old Weaver earned her first two caps during the USA’s trip to Australia last November, coming off the bench on Nov. 27 in Sydney and Nov. 30 in Newcastle to help the USA earn a win and a tie, respectively. This will be the second full USWNT call-up for the 5-foot-10 former Washington State star.
