MSSA Cups: Finals set for Stewart, Rowland and Morton Cups this weekend

The weather held off to allow the Stewart Cup semifinals to be completed this past Sunday. The first match featured ASA Charm City FC against Baltimore Kickers Bayern. In a very even engagement, Charm City was able to stave off the Kickers with a 1-0 victory. The Maryland Bays had an easier outing as they easily handled Christos FC by a 6-0 score. The final of the Stewart Cup will take place Wednesday, 12 March at Howard High School in Ellicott City, and the winner will represent Maryland in the US Amateur Cup during the USASA Region I qualifiers.

The Morton Cup has current title holder FC Reina looking to repeat against the Ocean Spirit. The match will kick off on Sunday, 9 March, 11:00am at Howard High School in Ellicott City. Later in the afternoon, the Bays take on defending champion Screaming Eagles in a replay of last season’s title contest of the Rowland Cup. It is the 100th anniversary of state’s Open competition, donated in the interest of Association Football in the Maryland on March 1, 1914. The final is at 4:00 at a Montgomery Blair High School in Silver Spring. The victor advances to the regional qualifiers of the US Open Cup.

Two Maryland Over-30 Cup games are on the schedule for Sunday as well. Christos FC Over-30 and Colombia FC will meet at Montgomery Blair High School at 10:00am in their quarterfinal round. The Baltimore Kickers will challenge ASA Charge Over-30 Men after the Morton final at 1:00pm at Howard High School in their semifinal draw.
