Navy men’s soccer announces eight roster additions for class of 2026

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Navy men’s soccer program and head coach Tim O’Donohue have announced the full class of 2026, as eight plebes will be joining the 2022 roster.

Three forwards, one midfielder, two defenders and a pair of goalkeepers make up Navy’s freshman contingent, bolstering the Midshipmen roster that already included 19 returners from last season.

The eight newcomers are Alex DeVincentis, Robert Eaton, Jalen Grant, Tommy Lockhart, Bryce Robisch, A.J. Schuetz, Andrew Schug and Nate Van Zoeren.

“We are excited about this class,” said O’Donohue. “It’s a group with a lot of talent and I believe the potential to do well in the hall. They will represent Navy Soccer well.”

Navy is coming off a 12-6-1 campaign in 2021, going 5-4 in the Patriot League and advancing to the PL semifinals.

The Mids open the 2022 regular season on Aug. 25 at the Glenn Warner Soccer Facility against St. Joseph’s.

Alex DeVincentis | Forward | Jacksonville, Fla. | Ponte Vedra

Played soccer all four years at Ponte Vedra High School … Paced the team in goal scoring each season … Led Ponte Vedra in assists as a junior … Served as the team captain for one season … Played club soccer for Jacksonville FC … Son of Brian and Stephanie DeVincentis.

Robert Eaton | Goalkeeper | Johnson City, Tenn. | Science Hall

Played soccer for three seasons at Science Hill High School … Claimed the conference championship in his freshman, sophomore and senior year … Took home conference goalkeeper of the year twice during his scholastic career, also winning team MVP as a freshman and senior … Spent junior season as a member of the U17 team for the FC Cincinnati Academy program, including one week training with the top FCC team … Was enrolled at Indian Hill High School during his time in Cincinnati … Played on the same high school team as Milligan University soccer player Harper Jennings … Son of BoJb and Wanda Eaton.

Jalen Grant | Defender | Wake Forest, N.C. | Heritage

Spent the 2021-22 academic year at the Hill School, which is a Naval Academy Foundation school … Played prep soccer for Hill, being named to the All-MAPL Team … Attended Heritage High School in Wake Forest, N.C., playing soccer for the Huskies … Named the NAC VI Co-Conference Player of the Year as a senior, also picking up all-conference and first team all-region honors in his final season at Heritage … played club soccer for NCFC and FC Delco … Son of Jermaine Grant … Father was a four-time NCAA All-American track & field athlete at LSU.

Tommy Lockhart | Midfield | Denver, Colo. | D’Evelyn

Attended D’Evelyn High School … Played basketball for two years at D’Evelyn … Member of the Real Colorado Academy soccer club, playing alongside Navy soccer teammate Pierce Holbrook … Son of James and Chrisanna Lockhart … Father played football at then-Western State Colorado University, earning NAIA First Team All-American status in 1989 and twice being named All-RMAC Second Team.

Bryce Robisch | Defender | Katy, Texas | Obra D. Tompkins

Spent the 2021-22 academic year at the Peddie School, which is a Naval Academy Foundation school … Played prep soccer for Peddie and was an All-MAPL selection … Attended Obra D. Tompkins High School, playing soccer for the Falcons all four years … Advanced to state regionals as a freshman and sophomore … Named first team all-region and first team all-district as a senior, also winning the district’s Defensive MVP award … Earned second team all-state and first team all-district during his 2019 junior campaign … Picked up second team all-district accolades as a sophomore … High school teammate of Memphis soccer player Jose Ojeda, Wright State soccer player Kobe Perlaza and St. Thomas soccer player Diego Lazo … Member of the Tompkins basketball team as well … Played club soccer for Albion Hurricanes FC … Son of Brett and Shana Robisch … Father played college basketball at Illinois and Oklahoma State before playing professionally in France … Uncle, Scott Robisch, played college basketball at Oklahoma State and Butler … Grandfather, Dave Robisch, played college basketball at Kansas, twice earning Big Eight Conference Player of the Year and leading the Jayhawks to the 1971 Final Four before playing professionally for 13 seasons between the ABA and NBA.

A.J. Schuetz | Forward | Fairfax, Va. | Patriot

Attended Patriot High School, playing soccer for the Pioneers … Broke the Patriot High School single-season goals record with 27 and the single-season assist record with 11 as sophomore … Earned first team all-district selection as a junior … As a senior, picked Team MVP, District Player of the Year and Regional Player of the Year honors, also receiving First Team All-Met and First Team All-State distinction … Served as team captain for one season … Played club soccer for Virginia Development Academy, earning selection to the ECNL Virginia National Selection All-Star Game … Was teammates at VDA with fellow collegiate soccer players Michael Eberle (Old Dominion), Ryan Jack (Kentucky) and Andres Rodriguez (VCU) … Son of Michael and Traci Schuetz … Has one sibling, Mikayla … Sister plays soccer for Longwood University.

Andrew Schug | Forward | Huntington, Md. | Huntington

Attended Huntington High School, playing soccer for four years with the Hurricanes … Member of Huntington’s state championship team as a freshman … Led all Maryland high schoolers in goals scored as a sophomore … Named Southern Maryland Athletic Conference Player of the Year as a senior, leading Huntington to the 3A regional championship … Played four years of club soccer for Maryland United FC … Named a ECNL Maryland United Player to Watch three times … Earned an ECNL All-Star East Coast selection in his second year with Maryland United … Club teammates with Denison soccer player Dom Pellock … Son of David and Sofiya Schug.

Nate Van Zoeren | Goalkeeper | Bethesda, Md. | Bethesda-Chevy Chase

Attended Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School, playing soccer for four seasons … Voted a top-3 goalkeeper in the county … Helped Bethesda-Chevy Chase to a regional championship and a berth in the Maryland State quarterfinals … Played club soccer for four years with Potomac Soccer Association … High school teammate of Fordham soccer’s Noe Messer and Pitzer soccer’s Will Brooks … Son of Douglas Van Zoeren and Patricia Markovich.
