Navy’s Daniel Kwon earns Patriot League weekly honor
CENTER VALLEY, Pa. (Via Naval Academy) – Navy men’s soccer freshman forward Daniel Kwon has been named the Patriot League Rookie of the Week, the conference office announced Monday.
Kwon scored goals in both of Navy’s games last week, including the game-winning goal in Navy’s conference-opening 1-0 win over Loyola on Saturday night.
Kwon came off the bench to finish a goal in the 70th minute off assists from Derek Vogel and Daniel Camuti.
The Severna Park, Maryland native also scored in Navy’s 3-2 double overtime loss to William & Mary on Tuesday. Kwon tallied his first goal of the season in the 61st minute to even the game at 1-1.
Kwon has two goals on just five shots so far this season.
Kwon earns his first career weekly award from the Patriot League.
Navy (4-4-1, 1-0-0 PL) will next face Army West Point in the Army-Navy Cup IV at PPL Park in Chester, Pa. on Friday, October 2 at 7:00 PM. The game will be televised by the American Sports Network, with the specific television clearances being announced at a later date.
