New England Revolution Academy teams go unbeaten vs. Beachside SC
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (Via New England Revolution) – Four New England Revolution Academy teams were back on the pitch this weekend with the Under-19s, Under-17s, Under-14s, and Under-13s playing road matches at Beachside SC. The U-19s and U-17s played their matches at Bridgeport University in Bridgeport, Conn. on Saturday, April 14, while the Under-14s and Under-13s played their matches at Trinity High School in Stamford, Conn. on Sunday, April 15.
All five Academy teams will face fellow MLS Academy sides from New York City FC this weekend. Every match will be played at St. John’s University’s Belson Stadium in Queens, N.Y. on Saturday, April 21.
WEEK HIGHLIGHTS
- Goalkeeper Eliot Jones ’03 (New Britain, Conn.) received his fifth youth national team call-up and will join the U.S. U-16 National Team for the Torneo delle Nazioni in Gradisca d’Isonzo, Italy. The tournament runs from April 19-May 2 and marks Jones’ debut at the Under-16 level.
- Forward Tim Ennin ’00 (East Hartford, Conn.) recorded a brace, while goalkeeper Austin Causey ‘01 (Groton, Mass.) posted a shutout in the U-19s 2-0 win over Beachside SC.
- Midfielder/forward Damian Rivera ’02 (Cranston, R.I.) scored from the penalty spot for a second consecutive match in the U-17s 2-2 draw with Beachside SC.
- Midfielder Dylan Henao ’04 (Saugus, Mass.) scored his first goal as a Revolution Academy player, while Matthew Tibbetts ’04 (Westborough, Mass.) registered a shutout in the U-14s 2-0 win over Beachside SC.
- Midfielder Oscar Martinez ’05 (Revere, Mass.) and midfielder Joseph Buckley ’05(Westwood, Mass.) tallied for the U-13s in their 2-2 draw with Beachside SC.
