New Mexico United signs 18-year-old defender Jackson DuBois to first pro contract
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – New Mexico United has announced that the club had signed 18-year-old defender Jackson DuBois to his first professional contract.
DuBois is the second player in New Mexico United history to complete the path from competing for the club’s USL Academy squad, to joining the First Team as a USL Academy signing in the USL Championship, to a full professional contract.
“Jackson has put in the hours, the energy, and has dedicated himself to being the best version of Jackson every time he wears our shield,” said New Mexico United Head Coach Eric Quill. “We are so proud of the young man he has become, on and off the field, and we are incredibly fortunate to have someone like that wearing our colors.”
A native of Albuquerque, DuBois previously played high school soccer at La Cueva High School and club soccer at Rio Rapids. He joined the United Academy in 2022 and joined the club’s First Team as a USL Academy signing – allowing him to play for both the United Academy and First Team – in March of this year.
Dubois made his USL Championship debut on May 5 as a late substitute in the side’s 2-1 victory on the road against Las Vegas Lights FC and has made two appearances in the league so far this season.
He has also appeared in all three of United’s contests in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, including recording his first start for the club in its 3-1 win against Lubbock Matadors in the Third Round on April 16 as the side began its path to next month’s Quarterfinal clash with Los Angeles FC of Major League Soccer.
