New York Red Bulls II sign 17-year-old Academy product Daniel Edelman
HARRISON, N.J. – New York Red Bulls II signed Academy Product Daniel Edelman to a USL Championship contract, pending federation and league approval.
Edelman, 17, joined Red Bulls Academy in January 2020. He made his professional debut for NYRB II on July 17, 2020 against Hartford Athletic.
“We are really excited to add Daniel to our roster,” NYRB II Head Coach John Wolyniec said. “We got to see a glimpse of what he can do at the USL Championship level last year, and now I think he has worked really hard knowing that he can contribute a lot to our team.”
The Warren, New Jersey native appeared in five matches for NYRB II last season. He recorded his first professional goal against Philadelphia Union II on July 22, 2020.
Prior to Red Bulls Academy, Edelman played for Players Development Academy, where he made 105 appearances and scored six goals.
“I am excited to sign my first professional contract, as this starts the next chapter in my soccer journey,” Edelman said. “It is truly a privilege to put on this uniform and I’ll continue to challenge myself to improve every day while competing at the highest level.”
He has featured for the United States Youth National team most recently appearing for the U-16’s.
