No. 1 NWSL draft pick Ally Sentnor signs three-year contract with Utah Royals FC
HERRIMAN, Utah – Utah Royals FC announced today that the number one overall pick at the 2024 NWSL Draft, Ally Sentnor, has signed a three-year contract with the Club through the 2026 season.
The rookie has been impressive during the club’s preseason preparations ahead of the 2024 relaunch of the Royals, and has now officially put pen to paper.
First overall pick, Sentnor headlines this year’s rookie class and is regarded as one of the top attacking talents in the country. The forward was one of only four Tar Heels to start all 23 matches in 2023 and finished the year with 11 goals, seven assists and 29 points, all which led the team. She was also named 2023 ACC Midfielder of the Year, first-team All-ACC, and third-team All-American during her time at Chapel Hill.
“As we close in on the season opener, we are ecstatic to officially sign Ally to her first professional contract,” said URFC Sporting Director Kelly Cousins. “She is the latest piece brought to a team that values putting the collective success of the group first and foremost. Ally was outstanding during her time at UNC and her experience as a youth international has culminated in this opportunity to take the next step in her career. We will rely on her energy and tenacity as we navigate our first season back in the league.”
Sentnor has represented the United States at the U17, U18, and U20 levels, most recently competing at the 2023 CONCACAF Women’s U-20 Championship. She scored four goals at the tournament, two against Panama and two against Canada, enroute to the final against Mexico.
The Hanson, MA native joins the club as the first draft pick signed from the seven players selected by the Royals in the 2024 NWSL Draft. She will look to make an immediate impact on the front line of a young Utah Royals squad.
Utah Royals FC, under Head Coach Amy Rodriguez, kick off the 2024 NWSL season at home against Chicago Red Stars on March 16 at 5:30 p.m. MT.
