No. 2 ranked Indiana beats No. 3 Pitt in NCAA Men’s College Cup Semifinal

CARY, N.C. – The No. 2-ranked Indiana men’s soccer team (12-1-2) defeated No. 3 Pittsburgh (16-4-0) by a score of 1-0 in the 2020 NCAA College Cup semifinal match at Sahlen’s Stadium at WakeMed Soccer Park on Friday night.

Sophomore forward Herbert Endeley scored the game-winner in the 79th minute with a laser from just inside the 18-yard line off the right wing. He took a pass from Nyk Sessock, added a couple touches and scorched the ball past the keeper in the upper right corner of goal. The goal from Endeley was the second of this tournament run and fourth of the season for All-Big Ten second teamer.

On the defensive side, Hoosiers goalkeeper Roman Celentano tallied his 10th clean sheet of the season in net, behind a strong effort from the back line.

With the win, Indiana advances to the 2020 NCAA College Cup National Championship Match against No. 10 Marshall. The match will be contested at 8 ET on May 17 at Sahlen’s Stadium at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary. The match will be broadcasted to a national audience on ESPN2.

Indiana will play in the 16th national title match in program history and third under head coach Todd Yeagley. Only one other program (Saint Louis; 13) has played in more than nine NCAA Championship games. Indiana has eight stars with the last championship trophy coming in 2012.
