NWSL reveals list of registered players for the 2021 NWSL Draft
CHICAGO – The National Women’s Soccer League today released the list of players who have registered for the 2021 NWSL Draft. The draft will take place on Wednesday, January 13 at 7 p.m. ET and will be streamed live exclusively on Twitch.
Not featured on the list is Stanford’s Catarina Macario, who recently announced that she would be skipping her senior season in order to turn pro. Macario was projected as the No. 1 overall pick in the NWSL Draft, but instead will sign with French club Lyon.

On January 6, the NWSL announced that its board of governors voted to expand the draft-eligible pool of collegiate athletes by waiving the requirement for “senior” collegiate athletes to register for the draft and automatically made all players who exhausted three years of intercollegiate soccer eligibility prior to the 2020-2021 academic year eligible.
However, registration remains a necessity for any and all athletes who otherwise meet the league’s eligibility requirements, but are not captured in the eligibility change described above. In addition, registration remains an option for those athletes who do meet the definition of “senior”.
Fans can tune into the draft by visiting the NWSL’s Twitch channel here. Host Marisa Pilla, analysts Lori Lindsey and Jen Cooper and reporter Jordan Angeli will be on the call providing viewers with live coverage of each pick and interviews with the draftees and special guests.
