Oregon State stays in house with head coaching hire, promoting Jarred Brookins

CORVALLIS – Jarred Brookins has been hired as Oregon State’s Wicks-Street Head Men’s Soccer Coach, Vice President/Director of Athletics Scott Barnes announced.
“We are excited to have Jarred take the helm as head coach of the program,” Barnes said. “He has been an integral part of the team’s success over the last two seasons. His focus on player development and team culture along with his experience and coaching ability will put the program in position for continued growth moving forward. I look forward to watching our student-athletes develop under Jarred’s leadership.”
Brookins joined the Oregon State coaching staff as an assistant coach prior to the 2023 season. During his first two years with the program, he helped guide the Beavers to great success. Oregon State made the NCAA Tournament both years, including a run to the College Cup in 2023. The Beavers went 11-6-5 in Brookins’ first season on the staff, with a run that included four NCAA Tournament victories before OSU fell to Notre Dame in the national semi-finals. Oregon State ended the season ranked No. 4 in the United Soccer Coaches poll, the highest postseason mark in program history.
In 2024 Oregon State went 10-5-3, and made the NCAA Tournament. The campaign included a seven-match unbeaten run, as well as a 6-2-2 home record.
Four Beavers earned All-America recognition during Brookins’ first two years as an assistant, as Sergi Solans, Arnau Farnos, Logan Farrington and Javier Armas all took the honor. Seven players earned All-Region honors over the last two years. Six Oregon State players were selected in the MLS SuperDrafts during that span – headlined by first round selections Farrington (No. 3 overall). Enzo Newman (No. 11) and Solans (No. 30).
“I am truly honored and grateful to be taking over as head coach of the Oregon State men’s soccer program,” Brookins said. “My family and I would like to thank Scott Barnes and our administration for entrusting me with this opportunity. I have been blessed to work at several great institutions that have shaped me as a coach but feel like Oregon State and the Corvallis community is a perfect fit for our family. This is a great program with a rich history that gives our student-athletes the ability to compete at the highest level and embodies the values of hard-work and perseverance. I am very proud of the work we have done over the last two years, and I am excited to build on that success in the years to come.”
Brookins came to Oregon State after spending the prior two seasons at Davidson. Over his two seasons, he recruited and coached multiple Atlantic 10 All-Conference honorees including eventual 2025 MLS Draft pick, Nicholas Cavallo. In his first season with the Wildcats, he was part of a team that went 9-7-2 and notched a pair of victories over ranked opponents en route to making the A10 quarterfinals for just the 4th time in program history.
Prior to his time at Davidson, Brookins spent three years as an assistant coach/recruiting coordinator at Mercer, where he helped the Bears to a 30-20-3 overall record, including two Southern Conference Championships in 2018 and 2019 as well as an NCAA Tournament appearance in 2019. Brookins coached 20 all-conference performers, a Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year in Macon. Brookins also recruited and worked with Ousman Jabang, 2022 MLS Draft Pick now entering his 3rd season with CF Montreal.
Brookins also spent five years with the Vestavia Hills Soccer Club in Alabama, helping the club to seven USYS Youth Soccer State Championships from 2014-18 as well as an appearance in the U18 Region III quarterfinals in 2017. He graduated from Birmingham-Southern College in 2013 where he was a team captain in 2012, while leading the Panthers to an undefeated record in the Southern Athletic Association.
