Players to Watch: Jefferson Cup 2025 Girls Showcase

The 2025 Jefferson Cup Girls Showcase is coming up March 21-23, as top U15-U19 teams will gather in Richmond, VA for one of the nation’s premier showcase events.

Every year, the Jefferson Cup is home to some of the highest level competition anywhere in the country, as teams go head-to-heat in front of hundreds of college coaches and scouts. This year’s Jefferson Cup Girls Showcase will include 504 teams from a range of the most competitive leagues, including the ECNL, Girls Academy, US Youth Soccer National League, US Club Soccer National Premier Leagues, and more. Ahead of the Jefferson Cup Girls Showcase, here are some players to know. Players are listed according to their graduation year.

2028

Anastasia Mattos

Goalkeeper
VA

A member of the 2024 USYS ODP East Regional Team roster pool, Anastasia is a dynamic goalkeeper known for her excellent footwork and strong communication skills. She commands her area with confidence and effectively organizes her defense. Her quick decision-making and keen awareness on the field make her a dependable backstop for Fairfax Virginia Union 2010 ECNL.

Scarlett Ambrose

Midfielder
VA

Ambrose is a quick and technical center midfielder who’s one of the leading scorers for Fairfax Virginia Union’s 2010 ECNL team, which is one of the top teams in the Mid-Atlantic. She has experience with US Club Soccer’s id2 program, where she was previously selected for the Girls id2 National Selection Team.

Gordon is a dynamic forward and winger who can also contribute as a powerful defender. This has allowed her team to play in multiple formations. When playing on the wing or out of the back, she creates threats to go forward while also being able to recover for the next play. Bella excels at crossing from a variety of angles, and she combines well with her teammates in tight spaces with lots of creativity.

Lilah Helwig

Lilah posted a hat trick in the North Atlantic League Cup Championship game against PDA Blue 09, earning FC DELCO 09 girls their first playoff appearance. She was also recently invited to train with the NWSL’s Houston Dash during their pre-season camp in preparation for the upcoming season.

Morgan Blelloch | Forward / Midfielder
Northern Virginia Alliance 09 (VA)

ECNL Girls 2023-24 All-American and Mid-Atlantic Conference Player of the Year Morgan Blelloch is a game-breaking attacking player for Northern Virginia Alliance’s 2009 squad. She’s the full package as a scorer and as a passer in that final third, highly technical and also extremely decisive. Her elite-level speed and pace of play have put her on the radar for the U.S. Youth National Team roster pool.

Madisyn Abella | Forward
PDA 09 Legacy Blue ECNL (NJ)

Abella is a 2023 ECNL U14 National Champion with PDA 09 Legacy Blue. She is extremely fast and uses her quick foot-skills to consistently get past defenders. With her remarkably high work rate, she’s always trying to find a way to put the ball in the back of the net.

Mary Orobono | Defender / Midfielder
Penn Fusion 09 ECNL (PA)

Orobono, a 5’5” defender/midfielder from the Class of 2028, attends Episcopal Academy in Pennsylvania and plays club socce for Penn Fusion 2009 ECNL. Renowned for her composure and creativity, Orobono excels in 1v1 defending, building out from the back, and utilizing her vision to connect with midfielders, thereby initiating goal-scoring opportunities through attacking runs. Her versatility as a left-back allows her to seamlessly transition from defense to offense, effectively driving at defenses with either foot, which makes her a challenging opponent to contain.

A two-time USYNT Talent ID invitee, Schlegel is one of the premier center backs in the Girls Academy from the Class of 2028. She’s been selected for a pair of GA Mid-Atlantic Talent ID Events, and she helped lead Century United to a conference championship in 2024.

Olivia Shaw

NY

Shaw is a star forward for SUSA 09 ECNL, who secured All-ECNL New England Conference honors last season. She could be well on her way more accolades this season, as she has been on an absolute tear, producing goals and assists in bunches. Recently, she piled up 5 goals and 3 assists in just 3 games at the ECNL Florida National Event.

Elizabeth Rubin

Midfielder
NJ

Well-established as one of the premier holding center midfielders in the ECNL’s 2009 age group, Rubin helped lead PDA Blue 09 to an ECNL National Championship in 2023. Rubin earned 2024 All-ECNL North Atlantic Conference honors and was chosen to compete in the 2024 ECNL Conference Cup. She will be high on the list of many college programs when she enters her active recruiting window.

Makena Lee

Forward
PA

A dynamic forward with a reputation for clutch performances, Lee thrives in the biggest moments. A key player for PDA Legacy Blue 2009, Makena helped her team capture the U14 ECNL National Championship, scoring the game-winning goal in the final. She also netted the equalizer in the U13 ECNL National Finals and converted a decisive penalty in the U13 ECNL Round of 16. Most recently, she delivered yet another crucial goal—the equalizer in the U15 Nike Premier Cup semifinal, an international competition that PDA Blue went on to win.

Makenzie Dockery

This All-ECNL Mid-Atlantic Conference player is quickly approaching her active recruiting window, as a coveted member of the Class of 2027. Dockery shines on the back line and in the midfield for Northern Virginia Alliance 09, covering a ton of ground with her high-level speed and aggressiveness. She’s phenomenal in 1v1 situations, forcing turnovers and wining 50-50 balls.

Siena Rothmann

Midfielder
MD

Recently identified as one of the best U17 girls not playing in the ECNL or GA, Siena was also a member of the USYS ODP U17 East Region Interregional roster. Rothmann, as a playmaker in the middle is able to finish with both feet and make well paced passes to her teammates, her play has been instrumental in her teams recent 3-0 record against Girls Academy competition. Her size, speed, and skill are tough for any opponent to deal with, even when she guest plays with her club’s U19 team. At the Jeff Cup, she will suiting up with Southern Maryland Rush 2008 USYS NL.

Representing Triangle United GA 09, Baruch is a key member of the attacking unit. Earlier this season, she had a strong performance at the 2024 NCFC Youth Showcase. At the international level, Baruch has earned call-ups Antigua and Barbuda at both the U17 and U20 levels.

Jordan Reigrod

Goalkeeper

Reigrod, the 2023 ECNL national champion goalkeeper and golden glove winner at the summer’s international Nike Premier Cup is more than just a great shot stopper. Her communication and direction in the back keeps Legacy’s winning defense organized on set piece plays and turning into an attack. She’s known for her sense of timing, knowing when to play the ball quickly and when to slow the pace.

Virginia Development Academy 09 ECNL (VA)

One of the catalysts in the middle of the field for VDA’s ECNL Mid-Atlantic Conference champion squad in the 2009 age groups. Wiemann is an ECNL All-Conference player with outstanding passing abilities and playmaking instincts. She has great chemistry with her teammates and can dazzle with her combination plays.

SUSA Academy 09 ECNL (NY)

Regarded as one of the best Class of 2027 defenders in the country, Netto was tabbed as an ECNL All-American for the 2023-24 season. A fast and skillful right back, Dutrow has helped her defensive unit only concede 6 goals in 11 matches, finishing second in the ECNL’s Mid-Atlantic Conference and qualifying for the Champions League Playoffs. She was recently named a U17 standout at the ECNL Florida Winter Showcase.

Northern Virginia Alliance 09 ECNL (VA)

Krichbaum was recently selected to participate in the ECNL Girls Dallas National Selection Game in February, featuring top prospects from around the country. She’s a two-time USYNT Talent ID selection who has a great ability to see the field, outstanding foot skills and is a great connector as a passer.

Kendall Watson | Midfielder
NC Courage Academy 09 ECNL (NC)

Watson is a 1st Team All-ECNL Mid-Atlantic selection and an All-American defensive midfielder. Recently, she was the key to her team’s 1-0 win against the top of the table UFA 09 side at the ECNL Florida Showcase. Kendall excels at tackling, intercepting passes and creating scoring opportunities for her team through accurate passing and vision. Kendall is known for great decision-making, strong technical abilities and tenacity.

Claire Troutman | Forward
Reading Rage SURF 09 ECNL RL (PA)

Claire is coming off a fantastic sophomore high school (4A) season being named Offensive Player of the Year with 14 goals and 9 assists. Troutman has recently been named as a top forward in PA by PrepSoccer and being dubbed “a forward with a poacher’s mentality and the statistics to back it up.” She also plays for the PA ODP team.

2026

Johannah Bradley

Midfielder
NY

This future Virginia Tech Hokie was honored as an ECNL All-American last season in the U16 age group. Bradley is a versatile playmaker for World Class FC 08, doing a lot of damage from her center midfield position, in addition to lining up on either wing. She has the skillset that college coaches look for, serving as a reliable connector who can turn any possession into a pivotal goal-scoring opportunity for her teammates.

Ally Griswold

Defender
VA

Recognized as one of the best Class of 2026 center backs in the ECNL, Griswold has verbally committed to play for USC. She represents Arlington Soccer’s 2008 ECNL team, and was selected to compete for the Mid-Atlantic Conference in the 2024 ECNL Conference Cup.  Griswold has many strengths on the field which go far beyond simply playing defense and organizing the back line. She’s an excellent passer and aggressive in the transition game, often generating offensive chances out of the back.

After a strong start to the season at the ECNL Florida National Event with three straight wins, Franchetti and the North FC 06/07 ECNL Regional League defensive line followed that up with two more clean sheet victories this past weekend. Franchetti  has good vision and anticipation, and her quick reflexes and solid handling have been essential to her team’s success.

Kayla Butki

The future Oklahoma State Cowgirl is one of the highest-rated outside backs from the Class of 2026 in the Midwest Region. Butki is a longtime member of the Nationals SC 08 Blue squad which had several dominant seasons in the Girls Academy before the club recently moved over to the ECNL. Last season, Butki helped lead Nationals to the GA Champions Cup title, as she was named to the Best XI for the event.

Nationals SC 08 Blue ECNL (MI)

After having recently de-committed from Purdue, Landstra is now eligible once again for college recruiting. She’s a highly-rated national recruit as a defensive midfielder thanks to her prolific speed, height and strength. She plays on one of the best youth teams in the country, and has also competed at the semi-pro level.

Evelyn Avillo | Midfielder
Bethesda SC 08 ECNL (MD)

Avillo captains her Bethesda 08 ECNL team by bringing both her savvy game knowledge and technical skill to the pitch. She never gets pushed off the ball, allowing her to begin the attack even when under pressure in her own half. Avillo’s work rate and vision are among the best in her league at the U17 level, and is sure to translate to the next level.

Camryn Zimmerman | Defender
North Carolina FC Youth 08 ECNL (NC)

Camryn is a strong defender with good size, physicality, speed and command of the back line. She has numerous accolades in her career, most recently getting called up to represent the US Youth Soccer ODP National Team on their international trip in April 2025.

Sydney Linus

Midfielder
PA

Linus is a versatile midfielder who you might also see playing center forward or center back. Her quickness and accuracy make her dangerous in the middle and her ability to find open space in center forward causes problems for opposing defenders. As a center back, her speed and calmness on the ball limit scoring opportunities for opposing forwards. Sydney, a Lock Haven University commit, uses her strength, speed and quickness to the ball to create scoring opportunities and win games.
