Potomac area Labor Day 2016 youth soccer tournaments recap

As always, Labor Day weekend was busy for local teams, as they prepared for the upcoming fall season with some preseason tournament action over the holiday. See below for a rundown of some of the most widely attended events in the Potomac area.

More than 250 teams competed in the DMV Premier Cup, hosted by the Prince William Courage. With some age groups as many as three divisions deep, the tournament featured a wide range of skill levels for participating clubs.

Alliance Soccer Club, Maryland Rush and the Maryland SoccerPlex played host to Rush for the Cup over the holiday weekend, in an event which featured 27 total divisions across the boys and girls U-10 through U-19 age groups.

Many of the region’s top teams competed in the OBGC Capital Cup hosted by local club OBGC and Elite Tournaments. Of the 506 total squads in the event, 56 were crowned division champs.

Eleven teams earned division championships at the FSCI Labor Day Tournament, including sides representing Lee Mt. Vernon SC, St. Mary’s Soccer, Loudoun Soccer, Vista CFC, Front Royal SA, Burke Athletic, Old Dominion FC, Northern Virginia SC, Monticello United and host club FSCI.
