Potomac DA-ECNL roundup: Bethesda-Olney sweep local rivals Baltimore Bays Chelsea

The second weekend of action in the U.S. Soccer Development Academy and the Elite Clubs National League saw a number of teams from D.C., Maryland and Virginia impress, with some even battling each other in local showdowns.

Bethesda-Olney Under-17/18s 4-0 Baltimore Bays Chelsea (9/14)

Bethesda-Olney took a clean sweep of victories over local rivals Baltimore Bays Chelsea.

In the Under-13/14s game, Bethesda-Olney hit double figures as they won 10-0, while the Under-15/16s game saw them take a convincing 5-1 win. David Eijbergen, John McCune III, Casimir Zekoua, Matthew Di Rosa and Francisco Contreras all tallied for Bethesda-Olney’s Under-15/16s, while Jerome Webbert scored for Baltimore.

Meanwhile, Ibrahima Kouyate scored all four goals in the second half as Bethesda-Olney’s Under-17/18s rolled to a 4-0 victory.

D.C. United & Richmond United

Richmond United and D.C. United enjoyed a tight day of fixtures as both tasted victory with the third game finishing in a tie.

The home side won the Under-13/14s matchup 2-0 thanks to a goal in each half from Alexander Levengood and Justin Hakizimana.

The Under-15/16s game finished in a 1-1 draw, as Idrissa Barrie’s opener in the 16th minute for D.C. United was cancelled out just five minutes later by Julian Ngoh’s equalizer.

D.C. United took a 3-1 victory in the Under-17/18s match thanks to goals from Eryk Williamson, Jean-Christophe Koffi and Jorge Calix, with Victor Falck notching one for Richmond.

Prince William Soccer, Inc.

USSDA newcomers Prince William Soccer, Inc. tasted victory for the first time as they secured a 3-0 win over Lehigh Valley United in their Under-13/14s clash.

Eric Calvillo scored in the first minute and then again in the 23rd, with Hector Colon tallying another in the 19th minute.

Soccer Association of Columbia

Under-13/14s 0-0 PA Classics (9/13)

Soccer Association of Columbia’s inaugural USSDA match ended in a 0-0 tie against PA Classics.

ECNL

Bethesda SC & Richmond United

Bethesda SC Under-14s 1-0 Richmond United (9/14)

Richmond United’s Under-14s were brought back down to earth having made a superb start to their inaugural season in ECNL as they lost 1-0 away to Bethesda SC.

It was a mixed weekend for Richmond United as they welcomed FC Virginia to West Creek Field for four fixtures.

The Under-15s played out a 2-2 draw, with the hosts’ midfielder Paige Franks’ two goals being cancelled out by strikes from Rebecca Crouch and Amari Hopkins.

The Under-16s matchup also ended in a tie, with Morgan Hall tallying for Richmond and Lillian Weber finding the net for FC Virginia as the score finished 1-1.

FC Virginia took a victory in the Under-17s game thanks to strikes from Emily Fox and Christiana Davey, with Fox also tallying an assist in the game.

Finally, Richmond took a big 5-0 win in the Under-18s match, a first win for United in their inaugural game in the ECNL age group.
