PWSI appoints Gabriel Portillo as Recreational Director

WOODBRIDGE, VA (Via PWSI) – Prince William Soccer (“PWSI”) has announced the appointment of Gabriel Portillo to lead all recreational programs.

Portillo joined PWSI in July 2017 as the Director of Youth. This spring he led the launch of the Courage Cubs Program, which has been a tremendously successful combination of select-level coaching with the recreational game day experience. Portillo, who is fluent in English and Spanish, coached the 2006 girls NPL to the US Club Soccer 2018 Virginia State Cup Championship.

“Gabriel is the perfect choice to lead our recreational program,” said Mike Cullina, Executive Director. “His understanding of and ability to communicate with the community we serve, combined with his proven leadership will be fantastic for our membership.”

“I would like to thank the PWSI community for making me feel welcomed to my new home. With the success of our Courage Cubs Program, our goal is to enhance our recreational programs to better serve our membership. Looking forward to meeting you on the fields.” – Gabriel Portillo

Joining Gabriel Portillo on the recreational program leadership team is long-time SFL Commissioner Merwyn Lasrado, boys’ commissioner Gabriel Crawford and girls’ commissioner Chevonne Shartzer.

The opening of the Ali Krieger Sports Complex will provide a first-class facility for our recreational program starting this fall. The facility boasts two lighted turf and grass fields with additional fields being developed, along with permanent restroom facilities, concession building and paved parking.

Registration for fall 2018 recreational soccer is currently open. For more information and to register go to www.pwsi.org.
