Recap, rosters from US Club Soccer id² Training Camp in Indiana
WESTFIELD, Ind. | The US Club Soccer id² Training Camp in Indiana was held March 23-26 at Grand Park in Westfield, featuring 2004 boys and 2003 girls from around the country. A total of 118 players from 75 clubs and 25 states participated in the identification and development camp.
Players competed in various training sessions, scrimmages and off-the-field presentations – all under the watchful eye of id² staff and U.S. Soccer Federation scouts.
id² directors Gerry McKeown (boys) and Tricia Taliaferro (girls) were on-site to implement id² curriculum, along with 10 staff coaches. Coaching the boys were: Mike Dickey (Kentucky Fire Juniors), Eric Dutt (Virginia Premier League PDP), John Newman (Princeton SA), Bobby Poursanidis (Fort Wayne Fever) and David Winner (Ohio Premier). Coaching girls were: Michelle Branch (Michigan Hawks), George Fotopoulos (Tampa Bay United), Stuart Hilton (Sting SC), Chris King (Ohio Premier) and Philip Poole (Charlotte Soccer Academy).
Before the players departed for their hometowns, they received instructions from their camp coaches for improvement.
Garrett Biller and Bobby Puppione were on-site to scout boys and girls players, respectively, on behalf of U.S. Soccer for potential future invitations to youth national team programming. NPL General Manager Leo Garcia oversaw the event.
This was the first time Grand Park has hosted an id² Training Camp. It hosted US Club Soccer’s league-based and cup-based national championship events in 2015 and will do so again this July for the 2017 NPL Finals and National Cup XVI Finals.
