Regional NPL Crossover Cup concludes debut of inter-league NPL play

CHARLESTON, S.C. (Via US Club Soccer) – The regional NPL Crossover Cup competition, featuring U-14 through U-17 NPL girls clubs from the New York Club Soccer League (NYCSL) and the New England Premier League, concluded June 13-14 in Long Island, N.Y.

The Crossover Cup began with the top eight teams from each age group and progressed through preliminary rounds last month.

Officials from both the New York Club Soccer League and the New England Premier League were in attendance, as were numerous collegiate coaches and scouts.

The Crossover Cup champions are:

U-14: Manhattan SC ’00 (N.Y.)
U-15: NEFC Elite (Mass.)
U-16: NEFC Elite (Mass.)
U-17: Brentwood SC ’97 (N.Y.)

Three of the four championship games were decided by one goal, including two on penalty kicks. NEFC Elite placed three teams in title games, and Brentwood SC placed a pair of teams.

Qualifiers from this event advance to the NPL Finals, the targeted destination of all NPLs throughout the country, which will be held July 9-13 at Grand Park in Westfield, Ind.

“The NPL Crossover Cup was a great display of inter-league NPL play,” NPL General Manager Leo Garcia said. “This kind of competition will prepare these NPL Finals qualifiers well in July.”
