San Diego Soccer Club joins ECNL Boys to compete in Southwest Conference

RICHMOND, VA – The ECNL Boys announced that San Diego Soccer Club has joined the recently-expanded Southwest Conference for the 2020-2021 season.

The addition of SDSC marks the seventh club to join the Conference since mid-April, joining Pateadores, Strikers FC, Arsenal FC, Real So Cal, San Diego Surf, and FC Golden State.

“We are excited to add San Diego SC to our Southwest Conference,” said ECNL Boys Commissioner Jason Kutney. “This is a historic club with great leadership that is joining an extremely high-level competition platform and further solidifies the strength of the conference.”

San Diego SC was founded in 1990 and has grown to include a membership base of more than 3,200 players between its competitive and recreational programs. Operating out of the North County Inland area of San Diego, the SDSC boys program is led by Seamus McFadden and Brian Quinn, the former and current head coaches of NCAA Division I Men’s Soccer program, University of San Diego, respectively.

“SDSC is excited to join ECNL as a member for the 2020-2021 season,” said Quinn, current Director of Coaching. “The ECNL is an established league that will provide our teams the optimum level of competition to continue their development, enabling them to reach their highest potential in their youth soccer careers and beyond. We embrace ECNL’s focus on college exposure for its players and see this league as offering an effective path and preparedness for our players who seek to play collegiate soccer.”

Additional announcements regarding league membership growth will continue through the coming weeks.
