Santa Clara women’s soccer signs five class of 2022 recruits
SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara women’s soccer has signed Alexandra Klos, Annie Karich, Farrah Walters and Leah O’Brien to National Letters of Intent, along with German youth international Lia Henkelmann.
Alexandra Klos | 5-8 | Folsom, Calif.| Vista Del Lago High School
Klos has been a captain of her high school team since her sophomore year and led the team to a first place finish in league.
Her club team made it to the semifinals in 2018. She was selected to the ECNL National Selection game and attended ECNL National camps in 2018 and 2019, earning Top XI in 2019.
Annie Karich | 5-9 | Surfside, Calif.| Mater Dei
Karich was a junior year captain for her high school team and won MVP honors while being named Trinity League MVP and was First Team All-CIF.
She played for the Blues SC club team from 2018-19 where they won the ECNL U16 National Championship. Karich was named Top Drawer Soccer ECNL National Playoffs Best XI and all-conference. She played for Beach FC from 2019-21.
Karich has experience with the U15, U17, and U20 National Teams while going to five domestic camps and three international.
Her family has a strong connection to Santa Clara with her father playing basketball from 1990-93 and her mother playing lacrosse from 1990-94.
In her free time, Karich enjoys surfing and spending time with friends and family.
Farrah Walters | 5-6 | Scottsdale, Ariz.| Chaparral High School
Walters was a 2021 ECNL All-Star and was runner-up for Goal of the Year in 2020.
She was part of the U20 National Team. She also played for the U15 National Team and played in the Weifang International Tournament.
In her free time, Walters enjoys traveling and hiking.
Leah O’Brien | 5-7 | Modesto, Calif.| Beyer High School
O’Brien was a team captain, MVP, and helped her team to a WAC league title in 208-19.
She played club for MVLA ECNL Barcelona where she was a team captain. The team were National Champions in 2018 and 2021. They were Surf Cup Champions in 2016 and 2017.
O’Brien was part of the USYNT Domestic Training Camp in February of 2018.
In her free time, she enjoys playing water polo and swimming.
Lia Henkelmann | 5-5 | Braunschweig, Germany Vista | Raabeschule Braunschweig
Henkelmann won the U17 Women’s German Championship in 2018 and 2019 with her club Team VfL Wolfsburg. She has been with the team since 2013.
In her free time, she enjoys hanging out with friends and going to the movies.
